They were talking about life after Drew Brees. You are going to have some good plays, you are going to have some bad plays but you don't replace a first ballot hall of famer.

I think that is what I'm trying to wrap my head around. I'm going to try to adjust expectations for this team.

Sean Payton took a picture of seat 1B on the team bus. It's the first time in 15 years it's been empty next to him.

It almost feels like a team going through mourning. It affects everyone.

Where can we see the pic?

The problem is the loss of key players in free agency and the overall loss of talent. Yet the decline in wins this year will be attributed to the retirement of Brees. The Drew Brees of 2020 was two levels below the Drew Brees of 2009 and 2011 and a level below the Drew Brees of 2017.

I want to see it but it sounds like what is being described is just one of Brees long time teammates paying tribute to his old friend. I mean this is the first time the team is making an appearance post Drew, so it would be a pretty large pink elephant if he doesn’t lead off with something to that effect. It doesn’t sound like it was ever meant to reflect on who we have now.

In the end, it might be for the best. A higher draft pick in a deep QB class might be a blessing in disguise.

For the people in the back

Don't think that applies. The only actual loss right now looks to be Sanders. The defense looked ridiculous, and they did it without Demario Davis and Cam Jordan. Turner and Werner also sat out. The glaring issues were extremely subpar QB play, all three RBs having butterfingers, and the only WR to show up was Callaway. If Callaway shows out then that will make the Sanders loss negligible, leaving the only real change on the team being QB.
