Jon Stinchcomb to Saints fans: Adjust your expectations (1 Viewer)

It’s his leadership when thing go bad that we will miss. Down 17-0 I always felt we would still win with #9. That’s what Jameis or Taysom. Or dare I say Book. Are going to have to show us

Exactly. We always felt like we had a chance with Brees. That is the leadership I am talking about. At the end of his career his body wasn't holding up to what his mind/heart wanted to do, but he still knew the right play/throw, etc.

They were talking about life after Drew Brees. You are going to have some good plays, you are going to have some bad plays but you don't replace a first ballot hall of famer.

I think that is what I'm trying to wrap my head around. I'm going to try to adjust expectations for this team.

Sean Payton took a picture of seat 1B on the team bus. It's the first time in 15 years it's been empty next to him.

It almost feels like a team going through mourning. It affects everyone.
This is why we need to go all in and get a legit franchise qb via draft or trade. Neither qb is on the roster. Lets be real!!

I wonder if people remember Drew Brees first set of preseason games as a Saint? I'm not just talking 1 game. I mean all 4 of them.

Was not pretty. At all. Especially that skull dragging against the Colts.

Maybe people just need to give these new QBs some patience.

It would seem not impossible to not have better QB play vs what you mentioned, but it goes to show you how hard it is to replace a G.O.A.T., even an "old", injured one. Decision-making is what worries me. I'd rather have more balls thrown away vs. trying to make something happen and having a ton of interceptions. I'm sure that will be preached. As we saw from 2017 to now, the defense can keep us in games as long as we're not constantly turning the ball over and keeping them on the field.

I'm of the feeling that DB should not have been playing in the playoffs, he clearly wasn't healthy. Taysom or Jamies gives us a better chance to win that game....

Wholeheartedly agree on the turnovers one of the main reasons we won so many games the last few years is Brees had career lows in INT's from 2017 - 2019....

I still believe this team could be better than expected, once they start gelling. The entire team is good. Coaching finally fixed it's defensive deficit. Special Teams are good. The offense has playmakers. I don't think the team will have a great win loss record, but they could surprise when they get all their players back, if they earn a wildcard spot.

Ultimately, it will be a fun year to see how far team building has gone, and the transition to a style of play that is not centered on having a HOF QB at the helm.
