Justin Fields, I'd roll the dice (28 Viewers)

Of all of the QB's who will be available in free agency, I think Justin Fields has the most upside. It sounds like Pittsburgh wants him back but I'd make a run at him. He's better than anyone we have behind Carr. He can run. The next QB of the Saints will need to run! Fields was in a horrible situation with the Bears but had some flashes. He showed fairly well for himself in his audition with the Steelers. It's not impossible that he could be a franchise QB. He would be worth kicking the tires on this upcoming season while the team is still hamstrung financially. He could be your transition guy or the possible next guy. Thoughts?

Fields with Moore would be fun to watch. Give Fields a good OL and he’ll put points on the board in the air or on the ground. He could reach his ceiling with a versatile offensive mind like we have just hired. Bring Fields in for a low cost and see what happens from there.

I like his upside. He is extremely young and if Kellen Moore is the offensive guru we think he is, he would get the most out of him. Sign him!

That's who I would go after if we want a young veteran. He can run, he has an NFL arm and is big/sturdy. I've mentioned him in a few other threads.

Fields could help replace some of the juice we will be missing with Taysom being out/released. Plus we are built to run the ball, he would help the run game.

Fields’ completion percentage, interception percentage, and quarterback rating AND sacks taken per atttempt have improved each of his four seasons in the league. All while his yards per attempt has remained steady.

Fields has been improving as an NFL passer, steadily and surely. I would bet he’s still not reached his peak

Haven’t been a fan of his but think he’s worth the gamble to see if he meshes well and can elevate in Moore’s system.

I’m of the belief that we should hold onto Carr for financial purposes, but I really want to see some legitimate competition brought in for us to smoothly transition to the next guy.

Fields would be perfect.

Heck, getting a QB like Fields would ironically be a reason to restructure Carr and keep him around. It would provide the extra flexibility we’d need.

I just don't see it with Fields like a lot of you guys. Anyway, I think he stays with Pittsburgh. I keep hearing media say the Steelers will likely go with him over Wilson, but who knows?

Oh you think we’re going to sign him with Carr on the roster? That we could probably afford but I don’t see it happening. We have to eat Carr’s contract AND have money to sign fields IMO.
