Can we finally say that Juwan Johnson is EXTREMELY overrated? Dude rarely shows up. I think Coby Fleener made more plays than this dude.

He doesn’t really have a role in this offense because we are more run heavy. Moreau and Hill (when healthy) are going to get the bulk of the snaps. I’m not saying he would set the world on fire elsewhere, he just isn’t going to have a consistent impact on our weekly results.

In other west coast offenses the TE is a huge weapon. Just left befuddled when I see him doing nothing.

Average receiving TE--Kubiak use the TEs more as blockers at this point--below average blocking tight end. Would rather we have draft/FA big bruiser TE with this offense. Don't have one on the roster currently

Part of it is scheme. Part of it is being in a timeshare with Moreau and Hill. Part of it is him being low on the totem pole. Our TE room has only received 15 total targets. Not much to go around between 3 guys.

More production is needed from the tight ends period. They have receivers going down the middle instead of tight arse backwards.

Johnson is not the only player that we tend to overrate during the start of training camp and realize they're average at best. We could also include A.T. Perry, Kendre Miller, and Moreau. And then we draft players like Penning whose an undisciplined road rage type OT. Again, it's not just Johnson

I don’t know if overrated is correct. I’ve never known of anyone outside of a rabid Saints fan that thought of him as a legit starting caliber tight end. Most people believed tightend was a huge hole going into the season. At his best he would be a number two tightend for most teams but realistically he is a number three or practice squad talent. His blocking is subpar and his receiving threat is subpar. He could be a good red zone threat, but is that all you want from your starting tight end?

I never implied anyone said he was anywhere close to a top 10 TE. I'm just saying this year's training camp and last year's camp a lot of people were saying he's an up and comer. This year he was supposed to be so much more improved, and now it's just more of the same with in when it's gane time. 1 or 2 catches every 3 or 4 games

He has caught 4 passes on 6 targets. For whatever reason, he just isn't being used enough to even form an opinion.

TEs are used for blocking especially when you're line can't hold up for 5 seconds without help.
