That would allow us to trade Stinchcomb to someone for a 2nd Rd pick. (I think he is worth this much)... Thoughts?
Well, since you asked.

He's not a classic RT, in that he isn't a very powerful run blocker. He's not quite agile enough to handle the speed rushers, so really isn't a LT candidate. What he is best suited for is a backup position.

So, IMO, Stinch, under the best of circumstances probably would not garner much more than a 4th or 5th rounder.

Of course, this isn't even the best of circumstances. We signed him to a 2 year contract last year, so this is his contract year. So any trade for him is really only for one year.

Trade up for Ellis,I don't think we gotta shot at Dorsey(Atlanta's guy).If we can't get Ellis go for BPA.I think the Pats will pick up DRC ,who I think will turn out to be a big-time Pro.After these 3 guys,Long,Gholston and McFadden I think the drop off is considerable-wouldn't care if we got Rivers or a CB.

I'm beginning to think that there is a very good chance that Atlanta doesn't take Dorsey, but goes with Jake Long if he is there. Their OT situation is really atrocious.

They appear (smokescreen?) to be willing to start the season with Redman. That means a run first team and they need to provide some blocking for their big $$$ signing (Turner).

Maybe we see the "Joe Thomas" ripple effect and 3 or 4 top 9 teams go offensive tackle! (wishful thinking)

Rivers shouldn't go top 15, much less top 10.
I ALMOST gave you credit for staying out of a Rivers thread.

I'm starting to want to pick him just cause you don't want to.

Same here. With all the hate he is getting, I want to take him now just to watch this board explode!

If Sedrick Ellis and Glenn Dorsey are gone and we decide not to trade up, we should take Kenny Phillips. He will be a better player in the NFL in three years than Mckelvin, DRC, Jenkins, or Rivers.

:hihi:....you guys will never give up...Kenny Phillips is NOT the second coming of Sean Taylo or Ed Reed, he is not a top ten pick....that my friend, is a REACH!

Whether its Dorsey, Ellis, McKelvin, DRC, Rivers or Jenkins were gonna get a good player at a position that can use it.

I have no worries. No chance we take Keith Rivers at 10, Payton and Loomis aren't stupid. :)

This board will probably explode no matter what because outside of Ellis and Dorsey, this board is split in hundred different ways over the remaining players.

The problem is that this draft is weak, though deep. Their are alot of good players, but not alot of great player outside the top 8 or 9. We might be at the worst spot at ten since after those 8 or 9 player, things seem to me a bit muddled especially for us "arm-chair" GMs.

Problem is, imo, there only seems to be about 7 guys who are actually worth the tenth pick. Unless somebody moves up draft boards causing someone to slide down to us, anybody we pick at ten would be somewhat of a reach.

How is picking Rivers stupid? Picking Clady or Mendenhall would be stupid, but Rivers would be a good pick.

Rivers is not the best LB in the draft and lacks instincts. If we took him at 10, I think he might be slightly better than Shanle and wouldn't even start if Morgan is healthy. Clady would be a huge upgrade over Stinchcomb and so would Mendenhall over Thomas, unless PT continues to play like he did against the Bears last season.

So we should draft Mendenhall because he is better than Pierre Thomas, yet he couldn't even start over him at Illinois?! Man please pass me some of that stuff you are smoking.

Name a better LB in this draft? I don't understand how someone could hate Rivers so much, he's an athletic player that can do anything you ask him to, he can pass rush, he's good in coverage, he doesn't miss tackles, and he can even play safety once in a while, he would be an exciting addition to our defense for many years to come. A player like Rivers is one of the missing pieces to having a top 10 defense.
(13 games) 2006 stats:
Tackles: 85 (most on the team)
Forced Fumbles: 3
Fumble Recovery: 1
Tckl for loss: 7 1/2
Sack: 2
Pass Deflections: 2

(12 games) 07 stats:
tackles: 78 (2nd most on the team)
Forced Fumble: 1
Fumble Recovery: 3
Tckl for loss: 5
Pass Deflections: 4

those are excellent stats when you have to compete with all of the other defensive talent on the team. He has been an impact player for years and he is the best LB in this draft by far. I don't know why you would think he wasn't.

2007 - 0 sacks, 0 interceptions, just a handful of QB hurries, tackles with his shoulder most of the time

Great pass rusher and defender?

Curtis Lofton and Dan Connor are both better than Rivers.
