Kellen Moore expected to be Saints coach (32 Viewers)

I dont like how the reporting im seeing says ‘barring any unforeseen circumstances, he is expected’.. like, y’all reporters are really going out on a limb there (?). Just say it’s a done deal, or it isn’t .

That said, i was rooting against Kansas City before.. but now im rooting *for* Philly, it’d be great to have a Super Bowl winning young coordinator at the helm .
I guess after Coen's stunt, everyone is going to add a caveat if it isn't official yet.

It’s not a done deal until the league approves it and my understanding is there’s no league business in the 2-week period before the SB.

So nothing is official yet and until that happens - anything can happen. Hopefully nothing will - but we live on a crazy planet.

They always do that with anything during this unwritten “no announcement” period.

I think the refs are rooting for KC

I honestly hope the new coach is allowed to completely clean house including the water boys and girls. Please don’t keep any of the Payton or Allen carryovers.

Exactly. He's proven he can work with different styles of QBs. Whoever he wants to build around or whatever style of QB, he should be able to be given the chance.
I agree with this- but one thing I’ll say is that he’s had the benefit of having top-level QBs at each of his OC stops until now. He went from Dak, to Herbert, to Hurts. I’m hopeful he can build up a QB who’s not on their level, but it will be interesting to see it play out and what he’s capable of if the QB is mid-to-lower tier.

He was looking out for himself. And he earned that right by winning a SB. Remember his first attempt was to leave to Miami with Tom Brady.
He had one before that he had essentially signed with the cowboys in 2019 as the rest of the city was still in shock over the Nola no call and dressing up as referees for Mardi Gras he was inking a deal to sign up with Jerry Jones. It’s only thanks to Anthony Davis demanding a trade from the Pelicans that he remained here.

Point being he had been looking for an exit for quite some time. This is a compleat guess and pure conjecture on my part but my theory is he foresaw what Patrick Mahomes was going to be and we were in position to make that happen but Sean Payton wanted to do everything possible to make it happen, as in move up and assure we got him. The Saints front office was content to roll along with Brees or perhaps make the pick where we were picking. The Chiefs and Andy Ried traded infront of us and the rest is history. I think from that day forward he was thinking about Brees aging and how he could find an exit.

My second theory is he loved being here as long as Tom Benson was here. Sean’s unchecked power and unlimited $$$ derived from Tom Benson. Once Mr. Benson died things got murky Mr. Dennis and other voices started to carry a little more weight. Sean didn’t like the new setup or he saw the writing on the wall and didn’t like where things were headed and wanted out.

Both theories are compleatly unsubstantiated conjecture by me. It in all likelihood could just be the man was tired of doing the same thing everyday and just wanted a change for changes sake.

Maybe.. but honestly this ‘breaking news’ is nothing that we haven’t known for the last few days, or even the last week or so- at least, for anyone who’s been paying even the slightest bit of attention .

They can’t say it’s done deal until it officially is done

I'd love to know why he took the year off in the first place. There's been enough from the media to know that he wanted to come back but the Saints didn't want to do DA dirty.

He misses home. He doesn't like to see what he built get this low
