Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Moore has begun working on assembling staff; Schefter: “Moore is gonna be Saints coach barring a setback” (16 Viewers)

How is it delusional? His first season starting he put up better numbers than Burrow and Daniels did their first seasons starting. He also has that confident air about him that a QB needs, he can make every throw, he’s shown the ability to scramble when needed. He has all the tools, there’s no reason he can’t put it all together.

Let's check back in a few years to see how it turns out.....if you think Nuss is ever going to approach the level of QBing that a Burrow/JD is I think you are going to be very disappointed.....that is a huge leap that very few QB's make....

I think his ceiling is a decent starter in the NFL if he improves this year, but, I've been wrong before....

Who will be defensive coordinator? That's my other concern.

Yep. The coordinator pool has been picked pretty clean by now and we still got a week and a half before we can make moves. Also curious if we stay with the 4-3 or move towards a 3-4.

At one point, I feel excited, elated, etc.

But I know a lot of fans aren't going to give him time to grow, some at all.

Just like someone starting coaching, they are going to make mistakes and learn and grow. It doesn't matter what sport or level. Little league, high school, college, professional.. Just like a player has a lot to learn everything he enters a new level of play, so do coaches when they enter that new position.

I'm going to look for his mistakes. Then, I'm going to look for them again. And again. So long as I see those mistakes dwindling, or disappearing, or not made in the same light, that's growth, that's someone striving to be great.

Im excited to see what changes he brings scheme wise, coach wise, personal wise, draft wise.. etc.

Brandon Staley and Wink Martindale are still out there. And apparently the DL coach, with the Eagles, Clint Hurtt, used to be the DC in Seattle so I would think he is a possibility if it is Moore. And I am sure there are other options out there that that are position coaches ready for a promotion to DC.

How many teams left need DCs?

Why so overly negative about it?

You can't pull for the guy to learn like everybody does in life?

This just seems so angry for no reason.

Not angry at all, not sure why you would think that.....just giving my honest assessment of the LSU QB.....I'm not the type of LSU fan that thinks every LSU player is going to be great.....doesn't mean I don't want them to be....

I'm cautiously optimistic about Moore being the coach. At the same time I feel like there is a bit of deductive reasoning going on from the media and us as fans with him being the front runner. There aren't many left that haven't declined an in person interview, so with him being the last to interview it appears that he is the favorite. Is he though? There hasn't been much talk about what Moore himself is thinking about the job. That the Saints flew to him and had a late night interview in Philly was strange and unprecedented. I'm sure there will be some questions about it on media day for the Super Bowl that will clear up my skepticism, but the last week has been too much for me to get excited until the pen hits the paper.

If it's not Moore, the Saints will make an announcement this week that it's Rizzi, Kafka, or Weaver, or they'll have more interviews. If you hear nothing, Moore is the HC. So in this case, silence is a good thing.

I really think my favorite thing about a Kafka hire would be if he brought Wink Martindale in as DC. First, I love his attacking defense and second, as a kid who grew up watching morning game shows in the 70s and 80s, it amuses me that his name is Wink Martindale.

On a more serious note, I wonder if Moore would consider Martindale as an experienced DC to bring in and also be the Assistant HC to help him with his experience?

Underhill speculated that Moore could look at Brandon Staley since he worked for him with the Chargers. Would not be my choice, because I really want a switch to an attacking 3-4 or 3-4 hybrid defense.
For what it's worth, his name is really "Don," he just got nicknamed "Wink" because of his last name.
