Kellen Moore most likely to be Saints coach; Saints meeting Moore again after Super Bowl, Kellen Moore has begun working on assembling staff (19 Viewers)

I just have a thought, I recently found out Kellen has a brother Kirby Moore. What if he decides to bring his brother with him to New Orleans on the staff?

Guess it just depends on the two guys’ relationship and whether little brother wants to forge his own path or not.

Seems like it would be likely he’d be ready for a NFL position coach role, but who knows.

Anyone rememeber the situation with Klint last year, at this time last year were we positive he was coming here? Or like it is now, tea leaves and connecting dots…. I know he can’t be officially hired until after the Super Bowl. But I also read that the information can come out making it clear if we’re hiring KM.

Actually looked at that a little while ago. At quick glance, we didn’t start seeing media reports until February 2nd, using vague but confident language like we see now. Nothing concrete starting being said until around the weekend of the Super Bowl, and the formal press releases started the day after the game.

Obviously that was a much less profile hire for a lesser profile role, so we have to keep that in mind.

Look at it this way. Imagine the Saints were in the SB, and another team wanted to hire him as HC would you want the saints dealing with that distraction while getting ready for the SB

Not only is that true, but it's also true the Saints can't make a formal organizational announcement until after the Super Bowl, unless the Eagles give them written permission to hire Moore, which they clearly aren't going to do.

Those rules do not apply to reporting by the media from unnamed sources. In the past, there have been reports in the nature of "X will be the coach, they just can't finalize or announce it until" and no team was penalized for those reports.

All we are getting from the press is "Moore is the (front runner, most likely, in driver's seat, really impressive) candidate." Not a single reporter is saying that "Moore will be the coach."

To emphasize, I am not saying Moore will not be the coach. I'm just saying that nothing that is known at this moment is enough to lead to any definitive conclusions.
If Moore had said no then we would have pivoted to Kafka and McCarthy would not have pulled out. Now it's possible that he may have needed 24hrs or so to decide, but it's almost Fri now and we haven't budged so I think it's somewhat safe to say he's in

Yea I agree, But if you go to the Philly forum, they are discussing who will be next for them. So they seem to know it’s imminent.

Kellen Moore is young, a former QB and by most accounts a smart guy.

My concerns are he was fired or let go in Dallas, fired in San Diego with the rest of their staff, then he landed in Philly. He has one of the better QB's in the league, the best RB and maybe a top 5 combo of WR's in Brown and Smith. He won't inherit that in NOLA.
He gets a middle of the road QB, a top 10 RB, an oft injured combo of receivers, aging defense and a mess of the salary cap. Is he the next Sean Payton? I'm not sure about that.

Can he lead the organization? Keep control of the locker room if the team goes 4-13 next year.

Everything looks like Moore is going to NO, but I'm waiting for it to be official

Hurts was asked to do more the year before Moore took over and it went terribly. In fact that whole offense completely collapsed the 2nd half of the year. He came in and brought stability. Their WR room is a bunch of divas and he kept the drama at bay for most of the year until the very end when Brown started to spout off but he squashed it and kept control. That should speak towards his leadership.

Is he going to come in and set the would on fire, not with the current personnel but hopefully we make some additions to our offense to at least give him something to work with.

Then his brother will be in New Orleans on the staff. Is there some reason to think that would be a good or bad thing?
Only thing I saw was he played with brother at Boise State as a WR. He was with Fresno State for about 4-5 years in different roles wr coach, passing game coordinator/wr coach, and OC/qb coach. So he has ties to Jake Haener. He left before Jake’s last season to become the OC at Missouri.

I remember how young SP was when he started and now we will possibly top that with Moore….I feel so old. ;)
He’s so young he won’t have to put black Kiwi shoe polish in his hair for the announcement press conference.

He was born AFTER the first appearance of The Simpsons!
I'll be a few months older than our head coach.. crazy.

I'm not sure how I would feel about Brandon Staley as DC. He had 1 good year as Defensive Coordinator with a massively stacked Rams defense with Aaron Donald leading that defense. Then he took the head coaching job for the Chargers. He was play calling there and the following 3 years the Chargers were consistently a bad defense in all but 1 year, they were bottom of the average group.

Something to ponder. On one hand you could say perhaps he's really good at defense and an awful head coach like Dennis Allen. On the other, you can make an argument that even Donald Duck could've DC'd for the Rams and led a good defense in 2020
