Kenny Wilkerson (2 Viewers)

let me preface this by saying Kenny Wilkerson is an idiot. period. i used to go to the Ricky Williams show every week at HOB way back when and Wilkerson proved himself week in and week out to be a moron and to this day he hasn't waned my opinion of him. i think he's a Kaare Johnson wanna-be, hence the stuttering. he's weak, doesn't ask anyone hard questions, yet will rail anyone if they're not in front of him. Hebert is a pleasure to listen to bc he tells it like it is and i never get tired of his saying, "You bring up a good point," even when the caller's point isn't good at all.
and, yes, we all miss Buddy D- tremendously.

I guess I'm the loner who didn't like Buddy D either. Buddy D had class and character Wilkerson will never have, but Buddy only knew two subjects, the Saints and horse racing. And I don't care about horse racing. Buddy was still alive when the Hornets came to town, and listening to his show you'd never have know it. He talked about LSU football once in a blue moon, never about Tulane, almost never about baseball, never ever ever about college hoops. Golf, tennis, NASCAR? Are you nuts?

I like the Saints as much as the next guy, but in mid-May there's nothing to talk about. There just isn't. That's the time to branch out.

Unfortunately, Buddy's one track mind has carried over. Hebert is a 100% football guy, Wilkerson doesn't even know anything about football. Somebody needs to get on that show and talk Hornets like they mean it. Mark my words, the Hornets will bring a championship to NOLA before the Saints do.

...Listened to the Bob Mitchell show for the first time the other night since it was a show on the Saints. He came off as rude to other when they held a different opinion as his. Kind of odd I think for someone who works where he does? During the program he told both his cohost and caller to keep quiet and to let him talk when they had already disagreed about bringing in Shockey. I actually agreed with him on it but still felt that was rude of him. Does he usually come off like that?

If this is the same Robert Mitchell that used to be a local DJ at WTIX (shows how far back I go :covri: ) and elsewhere and went by "The Real Robert Mitchell", then I have known him for 37 years. Not friends, but casual acquaintances. Same circles kinda thing. He is a great guy and as friendly a person as you might want to know. Not living in N.O. anymore, I haven't talked to him in a good while and was unaware that he was now doing sports - if indeed it is the same person (seems likely to me).

It makes me wonder if this is an attitude encouraged by management as controversy often drives ratings...

The sports talk in Lafayette is usually pretty good, except for Big Dave Thibodeaux and the Big Time Sports talk weekend mornings. :crazy2:

Kenny Wilkerson is irrelevant these days, which is too bad, because he was actually a pretty good reporter when he wasn't in the host. Picking Kenny to replace Buddy D was a monumental mistake by WWL in regards to quality. But what do you expect from a radio station that plays more commercials than programming?

Spank you.

And these clowns are heard throughout the South!

I don't know, Bobby seems to at least go Hornets games and tries to bring them up.

Deke is the worst of them all...hands down.

I'm sure it's been said in this thread, but there is one and only one way to effect change in any given media outlet -- stop listening, buying, and watching.

If 1280 had a p.m. local sports talk, I'm sure that would help matters. Competition and all that. But WWL is the only game in town.

But really, what would you miss if you stopped listening? They rarely interview anyone outside of their regularly scheduled Saints-affiliated shows. They don't break any news about the team. They don't cover the breadth of sporting interests in NOLA as they should. Their personalities, for the most part, are unfit for radio. Seems like a no-brainer for me.

And yes, I miss Gerry V as well.

I agree with most posters as I've said before. Deke stinks. I can't listen to a second of him.

I can at least listen to Kenny, but he stinks too. Although I've completely stopped listening to WWL, and won't again until Saints camp.

I won't give them one second of my time with all those commercials and stupid topics. And I'll just suffer during the Saints season as I like to hear Bobby's take on the game with Mike. I'm so glad I have Sirius.

What's with all the Gerry V hype all of a sudden? A few months ago everyone was on his case. And I'll have to admit I'd never even heard of this guy until I joined SR. What station was he on?
