Kwon Looking Healthy (2 Viewers)

If the team believed in Baun, I don't think they'd have gone out and gotten the guy from Ohio State in the 2nd round of the draft.

We obviously don't know what we have yet in either player but they have different skill sets and play different positions....I think it is more that Werner was a replacement for Kwon....

Achilles injuries are the worst, if it was just a partial tear he could come back, if he has any market at all in FA, we won't be able to get him back....we will see but the other thing is that they often happen again....

I tore mine 8 years ago. Trust me, he's not close to returning to full strength. He'll probably go on the PUP to begin the year if he is indeed re-signed.
That was my thought. If we could sign him for a minimum deal with per game bonuses for being on the active roster, it could be a win-win.

I know most of us are keeping our fingers crossed that (1) he can have a successful rehab and (2) we can get him signed this year. We really do not know the answers to those questions and whether he really would want to come back to the Saints for a 'prove it - incentive laden' contract. Some team with a lot of cap space could easily outbid the Saints. Having said that I am sure hoping he will sign with us and be able to contribute this year. He can be a difference maker for our defense.

We just need one of the young LBs to step up or for two of them to at least step up enough to rotate each other in an out.
We use 1 LB formations quite a bit, but we prefer to have 2 on the field I think. If Kwon comes back and can play at a high level,
we'll be set as far as starters go. Depth is what's going to kick our butts. I'll judge last year's rookies this year along with our
actual rookies. Last season was definitely not fair to them. Lets hope this year they get up to speed and we get to see what
they can really do.

completely different skill-set, for the most part. I would put Werner at Will and Baun at Sam
We played with mostly just two LBs last year. It looks to me like Baun is not really what the team had in mind for a LB. He's an undersized edge rusher more than a LB. He appears to be struggling to fit into the Saints scheme. Not looking like the best draft pick right now. Of course, I'd love it if he comes on in TC this year.

The key is highlighted on your last sentence. He had no real offseason with the coaches so I am withholding judgment until September. He came into the league highly touted and he has the measurables. I just hope he takes a big step to contribute this year.

But look at the position he played at Wisconsin. He was a hybrid edge rusher, not a true LB. It's possible he is being groomed to eventually replace Demario Davis at Mike, but I don't see him in the Will role, where I expect Werner to start this year. If he can compete with Werner and beat him out, that would be great, b/c Werner has all the markings of a guy who will be solid but not spectacular. One of the things that propelled Tampa Bay to the Super Bowl was their outstanding LB play. If we could get better in the middle of our D, it would definitely make a big difference for us.

We will have to see. Easiest way to plunk him in with little prep work is at outside rush which is what he knows. This year will be a much better representation of last years draft class as they had a year of exposure and now will have a full offseason and training camp

I know he has a long way to go, but our man Kwon is looking good. Love the hair and the energy, I really hope he signs back with us. He would shore up our LB position nicely. His profile picture is still with the Saints for what thats worth, I feel confident he will be back!

I'm hopeful and I see he's moving well, but he's not going to be the same guy for at least another year at the soonest. He could almost certainly play next year. He might even start next year, but it's unlikely that he's going to be the same, explosive LBer until sometime in 2022. I'd like to see him signed to a 2 year deal at least.
