Loomis: Next Saints Head Coach will decide their own staff and direction at Quarterback (5 Viewers)

Perhaps Loomis needs a more aggressive HC. The question was posed that Payton felt he was too patient, and Loomis felt Payton was too impatient. How you build an organiztion is always about balancing out. Hopefully he seeks to find a coach that has some tedencies that were similar to Paytons. He hinted that "maybe we need more proactive people in the organization" and I think that's good on him to recognize that.

There's one time that Loomis was answering a question and he said, "Derek did some great things for us .... (pause) Has done some great things for us. "
I think there is a lot of posturing being done by both sides right now. Carr's contract next year isn't cap friendly for a QB that didn't have the minimum number of attempted passes to qualify for QB stats due to his missed games.

I'm not sure if the posturing is being done for him to remove his no trade clause or for him to take a salary reduction...

Thanks. I literally fell asleep during the presser. Actually, he seemed to have more substantial things to say than I expected.

If the right quarterback lands at 9 or close to 9 pretty certain we are drafting one.
I really hope not. Next year you'll get a better qb in the first two rounds than any qb in this year's draft. Draft a playmaker or whatever, but please no QB this year regardless who the new coach is.

Wasn't there talk of Caleb Williams being the best QB to come out since Manning and that he was worth tanking for, or something like that? And the draft before that with CJ Stroud was supposed to be a bad draft for QBs and that teams would be better off waiting till Williams came out?

How'd that work out?

I hope not too. But a first year coach I bet he is thinking about starting from scratch. Have Carr as a bridge for a few games and then slowly bringinng the rookie in. Right now this team has no concrete directions and anything is possible at this point.

I'm just speaking on Carr telling Kat unprovoked that he wouldn't be willing to take a paycut etc. I couldn't quite figure out what his angle was on revealing that, almost like his PR didn't tell him how to handle it, or he just went off the cuff.

The rumor is that there were some in the front office that were thinking that they should ask Carr to take a pay cut and he wanted to make sure they knew that was not an option.
