LSU Spring Game on ESPN2 at 3:00pm today (1 Viewer)

I think we have been waiting too long for JJ to get his timing down..... After watching the spring game, only bright spot I saw were Ridley, Ford, and Peterson....

The worst thing about the offense is the OC in my opinion..... cant stand a QB that is not comfortable under center....
This is exactly what I mean by unrealistic expectations. Waiting one year is not too long. It took Matt Flynn four years. It took Jamarcus Russell two years. It took Rohan Davey three years. We're still waiting for Matt Mauck to get his timing down.

Actually Mauck threw an ugly ball but he could regularly properly lead a slanting receiver in motion or hit an out route... and he often made the throw before or just as the receiver made his break. Mauck had good timing with a negligible arm. Jefferson has thus far only shown the ability to hit receivers that are stationary, receivers that are moving back towards the LOS, and backs in the flat.

Now it may be that Garrett is way behind Lee and Jefferson, and as bad as Jefferson looks Lee seems to lack the ability to eliminate certain mistakes in his game as well. We may simply not have a player on roster with the instincts to play the position properly, in which case it comes down to the coaches to design a playbook that hides their starters weakness and accentuates their strengths.

I think fans put way too much stock into Spring football.
There's no debating that JJ looked Bad. Who's fault is that, is up for debate.
Personally, I don't see JJ or JL leading us to the promise land.

Watching JJ since he's been QB at LSU, he just seems to lack confidence in himself. At times he's able to get by on athletic ability. But, I've never gotten the sense that the game has "slowed" down for him yet. Still he's just going into his Jr year so he does have some time to keep improving.

JL is the opposite. I think at times he has too much confidence in his arm and it gets him in trouble.

It would help either of them if LSU has a solid running game this year.

MLU didnt Russell and Davey show signs of greatness during the learning experience? Have you seen greatness in JJ at all? Personally, I have not.... if you cant anticipate a play happening as a QB, I just dont see how JJ will be able to compete with the elite teams....

Russell., yes. Davey, no. I could never get past that goofy throwing motion. Davey had a great relationship with Josh Reed, too. Reed had that knock for finding an open spot and then sitting there. Even then, that relationship didn't develop until very late in his career. Early on, Davey had trouble getting on the field at all.
