Not a main stream outlet and I haven’t seen this anywhere else, but I thought it was worthy of a post to see if anyone else has heard this.

Thoughts?

My thought is that Cam wants to retire a Saint and that this may be his last year. I don’t think we’d get anyone worth anything in return and maybe a 6th or 7th round pick as compensation.

let him retire as a saints.. Trade him for what?, useless draft pick. no thank you, his leadership and love for the saints is enough for me to let him finish this year and then retire as a saints.
The exception would be if he wants to have a shot at a ring in what may be his last season. If he doesn’t want to leave, I would agree that the Saints would look better if they let him retire here rather than trade him for a late round (likely to miss) draft pick.

That site always does these pieces where the title makes you think they have information that something is going on but when you read the article they are just speculating that because a player exists at a position where a team has a need, the "might" try to trade for them. There is no substance to the article and nothing to see here.

Frankly, nobody is going to trade for Cam at his age, with his contract, and with his current performance level.

His salary is the vet minimum this year, and he has no guarantees in 2025. I agree his performance hasn’t been great, but the contract shouldn’t scare anyone away (an acquiring team would only have to pay him around $750k).

Thanks. I didn't check his contract. Just recalled that he recently signed a fairly big deal and didn't realize that next year had no gurantees. I guess most of it was in the form of a signing bonus or they converted it this year?

But, yes, I'm not sure why anyone would trade for him given his performance and age. They would have a better change shopping Chase Young. Although I'm not sure they could get much for him.

I think it is very important to him to spend his entire career with the Saints (like his dad did with the Vikings). I would only trade him if he requested it.

I figured as much. I was hesitant to post it, but I'm uber bored after having back surgery Monday. :hihi:

His low salary is just a consequence of the annual restructuring olympics. While his salary shouldn't scare anyone off, the Saints are paying him nearly $12m through a restructuring bonus. As you pointed out, the trade rumor is almost certainly false, and one more reason why is that the Saints probably don't want to eat that $12m to ship off a team leader for a late round pick.

Agree. And, if Jordan didn't want to be traded, a trade would probably make an unhappy locker room even more unhappy. It's just not the way to treat someone after many years of production and leadership-- what a message.
