Making the case to heavily pursue Joe Brady for Head Coach (1 Viewer)

My only unknown with Joe Brady is if he is a culture fit. The football team's internal and external culture in NOLA is mega-huge. The fanbase likes a scoring offense, and we demand a relatable head coach after Sean.

I did not recall ever watching for how Brady spoke in the past. So I just watched his 14 minute Q&A with the media after the Bills high scoring loss to the Rams 2 weeks ago. Link at the end of my post. I found him to be down to earth and generous in his explanations. A total opposite of DA, who shut down at the hint of conflict with the media, and with his inane catchphrases and alienation of players.

For anyone to take the Saints job, that's a career-track risk with no proven young QB, a mediocre vet QB as the starter, the dead caps (which are not finished accumulating), and the injury environment. Ben Johnson is not coming to coach in NOLA.

Joe Brady could. He's a culture fit. He's guaranteed to improve the probability of the Saints scoring a minimum of 24-27 points per game. He might raise Derek's game, but more likely, Derek is stuck at his mid ceiling, so then Brady develops Rattler. Rattler has enough to attract a coach to develop him. Brady is known and beloved by the large subset of LSU fans, and that helps when the fans are tired of Mickey and the last 4 years.

No to Mike Vrabel... boring, not a culture fit.
No to Kliff Kingsbury... Coach Bro is only about Coach Bro.
Lukewarm on Aaron Glenn.. I like that he's a DC for an aggressive HC, but I do not want a defensive HC here.
No to Liam Coen... just because Baker Mayfield finally grew up as the conceited jerk he is, I am biased and will not give his OC any credit.
NO to signing Daniel Jones... stop taking other team's vet QB failures!

I mean, you have the same level of risk with any 1st time HC, unknowns, there are going to be plenty of them….my most important are can he lead effectively, establish accountability and create a winning culture….impossible to know but I think Brady is worth taking a chance on…..

I'm kind of wanting a great hc, who will run overall team, and have great oc and DC to do their respective duties. Get a hc focused just being hc, not hc of that side of the ball.

Then I would say your top target would be Vrabel. You could also keep Rizzi. The problem with that is you will have to constantly replace your great OC with another great one.

Look at the Bucs. They had Canales one year and he’s head coach of the panthers. Coen is in his first year and he’s a top HC candidate. On the other hand you could struggle to find a good one. Tomlin has had that struggle in Pittsburgh. He’s been going through 1-2 OCs/year. Finally he got a good fit in a fired HC, Arthur Smith.
