N/S Marcus Davenport - Vikings $13 Million Star Lacks Desire (2 Viewers)

If there is one thing you can never forgive Sean Payton for, this is one of them. He picks Lamar instead of Davenport, he's probably still coaching the Saints.
I don't think that was solely his call. Do you think Brees would've been cool with it? And Drew isn't Carr, he was a bonafide Hall of Famer going into that draft, you don't know how much longer he's going to play. What happens if Drew doesn't get injured and continues to play through 2022 and you still don't have a bead on what you have in Lamar? There are lots of variables to consider.

Funny, it seems there is more justification for his poor play now as a Viking, than there ever was when he played here.

They were going to draft Mahomes a year earlier, and Brees was aware of the plan with the understanding that Mahomes was going to sit behind him. I think Jackson would have fit even better with a transition plan, as they could have drawn up specific plays to get him on the field, as they were doing with Taysom Hill at that point.

Also, I think if the Saints went to the Super Bowl after the 2018 season, win or lose, Drew was ready to retire -- I think the only thing that blew that was the terrible way the NFC Championship went down.

Oh, I don't disagree that Drew probably would've retired after the 2018 season if he got another ring. I just don't think Lamar is really that good. And you can't convince me on the basis of his MVP award. Drew not winning one convinced me it's not a legitimate award.

He's a unique player, obviously very different from Drew, but I think he's pretty good. I agree about the MVP award.
