It’s carnival time y’all.

It’s funny when you see signs of the New Orleans diaspora or simply people who appreciate carnival. We always put up MG wreath and a few other knickknacks. Across my neighborhood there’s a house with a little stone Buddha on the driveway. I noticed yesterday he had a Mardi Gras hat and beads on.

Do you put up any Mardi Gras decorations (especially for those who don’t live in the region)?

Also Endymion decides that the feel good story of Willie Fritz and Tulane football isn’t edgy enough and has apparently invited Mel Gibson to serve as co-Grand Marshall.

Mardi Gras time is the best time of the year IMHO. We live in Houston, but hang out a wreath, and do some decorating as well.

As for Mel Gibson, that seems like more of a Nyx type call.

You know what would be great, if they both sported mohawks for the event. Mel in an homage to Mad Max, Willie in an homage to his college self.

I put the lights on the house yesterday. Taking down Christmas and putting up Mardi Gras is my fewest favorite day of the year.
