Mardi Gras 2023 (2 Viewers)

It’s carnival time y’all.

It’s funny when you see signs of the New Orleans diaspora or simply people who appreciate carnival. We always put up MG wreath and a few other knickknacks. Across my neighborhood there’s a house with a little stone Buddha on the driveway. I noticed yesterday he had a Mardi Gras hat and beads on. 😆

Do you put up any Mardi Gras decorations (especially for those who don’t live in the region)?

Also Endymion decides that the feel good story of Willie Fritz and Tulane football isn’t edgy enough and has apparently invited Mel Gibson to serve as co-Grand Marshall. :covri:

Man they could have just let Chris Olave be the Grand Marshall. Or Cam Jordan.

We redecorate the tree from Christmas to Mardi Gras put out decorations around the house. Don't really have alot outside (PGG wreaths on the windows, a blowup Bacchus man and Bacchus flag)

Yeah, we do a good bit of Mardi Gras decorating over here on the coast. We live in a beachfront condo on the 12th floor. We put a lot of Christmas lights up on the rails of our balcony (24 feet). I took those down last Thursday before going out that night with my Marching Club for a mini parade and ceremony to turn on the Purple, Green, and Gold lights that illuminate Biloxi City Hall for the rest of Carnival season. Two days later (Sat), I put our Mardi Gras lights up on the balcony. If you drive down Hwy 90, you can't miss our balcony at night. We also changed out our Christmas wreath on our door to our Mardi Gras wreath for the rest of Carnival season. Under the wreath is sign saying Happy Mardi Gras. All of that stuff will stay up until Ash Wednesday.
