Matt Mascona Nails It Again! (3 Viewers)

Just because he covers LSU in Baton Rouge doesn't mean he's not a fan. It's okay to dislike the guy, but he's allowed to have an opinion on the team just like everyone else on this forum. And yes, he does watch the games while wearing a Demario Davis "Man of God" headband.
He is an LSU guy who comments on the Saints. I would assume he watched the games mostly. He is a local guy who does NOT have sideline credentials or access to the locker room. He is an opinion-based hot-take specialist who acts as an echo chamber for the disgruntled for clicks. Enjoy your weekly 10 minute saints hot-take serving of Baton Rouge boy.

Since I have known who this guys is, his takes seems like they are almost always "Fire Everyone" on repeat.

I’m not on the get rid of DC4 train. I’ve seen DC4 do some things at the NFL level that shows he belongs. Our system is craptastic. I don’t think any QB would do well running these plays. This is the same nonsense that was happening before DC4 got here. I’m going with the common denominator
Destroyed it all on the 2nd post.

It amazes how many people can say it's mostly the head coach, also all the coordinator, entirely the OL, and also 100% the QB to blame all in the same week.

I agree. I am withholding judgment until we have a competent HC and OC.
Yep. When he checked down to Kamara on one of our 3rd downs only one receiver even ran a route past the chains. Our sheet stinks but I've also seen him hold onto the ball for way too long way too often.

try to imagine this. what if our D held the other team scoreless thru three quarters like they are capable of. Instead it was over at half. Now we’re one dimensional, and go figure the Qb gets injured. I don’t see how Carr is the issue here. JW got us back into the game on his own. He couldn’t finish. But he got us back into it. Had our D did their EFFFFFING JOB. The points that JW did score should’ve won is the game!!!. Matt also said in that piece that Josh Allen is the answer. The guy leading the league in interceptions. With that said, to satisfy this fan base, we have to trade up and get a QB this year. Too bad Deions son and Ewers are playing another season. But I think Jayden D and or Jordan Travis one of them will be available when we pick. GET ONE!
The defense gave up back-to-back TDs after the offense put up back-to-back three-and-outs.

Later in the game, the defense forced back-to-back-to-back three-and-outs, and the offense… actually you go look and tell me what the offense did.

Take Brees's name out of your mouth! Don't diminish Drew's accomplishments to make a point about Carr. Drew helmed a top five offense year in and year out, nothing "empty" about that. They scored mountains of points to go along with those yards and the lack of rings was purely due to horrendous defenses (like that even needs to be restated).

That said, I agree with you and think Moscanna's take is lame. Put Carr behind an average offensive line and pair him with just an average play caller and things would look different.
Yep. Ultimate clown show to compare to Brees. So many folks here so blatantly disrespect him it’s insane.

Regarding the big issues, Matt's batting average blows Underhill away. If you want access, you pull punches.

Underhill favored the Carr signing, favored the Allen signing, supported Loomis's crazy trade last year with Philadelphia, has fully embraced the Loomis mantra that the Saints are a contending team, and has never broached the notion that Loomis is the wrong person to be general manager.

Count me in the number to let him loose. Mascona said everything that I believe. That and when Jameis came in the game on Sunday, the team just reacted differently. Like a sigh of relief. I don't think that Carr has that "IT" factor to be a leader of a team. Not saying Jameis does either but he does bring the fun factor. Carr is not a fun player. Like Mascona said, we can use the Raiders were a terrible franchise excuse but so were the Saints yet Brees came in a single handily changed the culture.

At this point, Carr will only be known for his temper tantrum and yelling at Olave on national TV.
In no way can the Saints let Carr loose after this season (they shouldn't anyway). His salary next year is fully guaranteed. That and the prorated signing bonus will all be charged to the cap that is already at a negative 71.5M to start the 2024 off season. Loomis will have to restructure Carr's deal which will basically guarantee 2025 also.

If you want real Saints takes, listen to Ross Jackson at Locked on Saints, the guys over at Saints Happy Hour podcast, and Nick Underhill and co with New Orleans Football. Those are actual Saints fans with sources inside the building at Airline.
Accessibility ain't always the best thing (as last season and this offseason has shown), and I'll for sure listen to AFR before Ralph and Andrew over at Saint's Happy Hour. Those Twitter takes have me wondering sometimes...lol.

I don't watch AFR stuff, some of the most lowbrow, lazy, budget Stephen A Smith crap I've seen, even for local/team-focused content. Which is saying something.

Kind of ironic that he calls Carr (who's played with a historically awful Raiders team his entire career, meanwhile Brees was gifted a HoF head coach in his prime.) the 'empty yards emperor' when he watched Brees for twenty years. Brees is literally the emperor of empty yards. All of Brady's stats with just a single of his rings. That isn't to disrespect Brees and his legacy here at all, it's just to make a point of how dumb the video is.

As for Carr himself, it's 100% unfair to call him anything until there's a competent set of coaches in the locker room. Or at least an OC.
Brees did what he had to do because the majority of his time here he had bad defenses and had to score 40 to win games. Don’t rewrite history. When the saints had a half decent defense they were a top team. 2011 we had one for the best offenses of all time. That season ended against the 49ers, who I would add had one of the toughest defenses of that era, with Brees having to put the team on his back in an all time performance and still lost TO ALEX SMITH!!!

Drew wasn’t an “empty yards” QB and your comment proves you don’t really get the point he was making. Yeah drew had a ton of yards but you know what else he had? A TON OF POINTS. That’s the difference.

And comparing to Brady, who year after year had a stellar defense, well it’s kind of pointless to compare the two the way you’re framing it. If you want to point the finger at someone, blame Mickey and Sean for not building a solid defense and basically depending on drew to get 5 TDs a game just to stay in it.

Preach, that's my issue being close means drinking the Kool-Aide. He's only now starting to question the coaching but I'm past Allen at this point because Mickey seems reluctant to embrace the kinda move we may need at his point.

Yep....I think this Carr saga has broken Underhill while Ross is still holding on to dear life...lol. I actually think JT's video was the driver. It wasn't much you could say after that video dropped and I think Nick realized it.
With the trash takes Ralph and Andrew has on the daily, I didn't realize they had access to Airline..lol.

Underhill is pure propaganda, and I say that as a person who likes and subs to NOF. As others have said, they have to carry the water else get cut off. He’s just trying to make money, I get it.
