Mayock's top 10 on NFL.com (1 Viewer)

Mayock might be the only person on the planet that thinks McFadden is not a top 10 talent. I don't get it...

no he's not. I don't think mcfadden is top 10 either.
i watched him "tear up" lsu this past year. all his yards were on long runs. he didn't fight for 1 yard. i'd bet that he didn't break one tackle. the first time he touched the ball (opening kickoff) he fumbled. next time he touched it (2nd kickoff after lsu scored on his first fumble), he fumbled and wasn't even hit! i was not impressed with his running that day. sure, everyone is impressed with his speed, but he's not a tough runner. everyone looks at his total yardage that day, but don't factor in all his yards were on long runs.

DRC is a gamble. The kid has a TON of upside, but he has not shown that he has the ability to step in and start from day one. He may do that, and could very well be a heck of a CB for many years, but that's not a lock. The love for DRC here is the love of his POTENTIAL. He's fast, he has ball skills and seems to have good instincts. He just hasn't proven that against quality competition yet (and didn't DOMINATE against marginal competition).

There are no "sure fire" or "total package" CBs in this years draft. There are a several that deserve mid-first round or early second round status. It all depends on what a GM wants to draft for at CB. Potential (upside), or "NFL readiness" (proven experience). That will determine what team gets DRC or McKelvin or Jenkins.

I heard McFadden didn't sign with Mayock's agency and sports management firm.

Mayock is McFadden's Jason Cole.

BPA on the defense side of the ball. If it is DRC, then so be it. I personnaly would not be upset if this is our #10 pick.

Mayock did a spot on NFL network's coverage of the draft where he said he felt DMC's legs go dead after contact and he doesnt keep them chugging along to fiught through tackles and pick up extra yardage and his speed and moves werent enough to make him an elite talent but still a very good talent. DRC on the other hand is a bit more unpolished however has freakish intagibles the likes of which made Deion the best corner ever. Definately worth a 10 from what ive seen of the kid....prospect excite me more than any other corner.

DRC is second round talent

who has gotten media love for some reason, those of us who have seen him on the field in Nashville know that no other team fears DRC. TN St is not in a world beater conference where DRC could prove himself and his showing in the Senior Bowl is more Mamula like which could earn his top ten spot, hopefully not at the Saints expense.

McFadden does run tough, the criticism of him is that he runs over too many people and not around them which makes him an injury risk. McFadden is potentially a better DB than DRC if you want to change his position. He was slated to start at S as a FR at AR, but was too good to deny. McFadden is the best RB in the draft. We don't need a RB and should not be interested in McFadden, but surely we have better prospects for the 10 slot than DRC. He has some social issues also that bear investigation but are just a part of every day life at TSU.

mayock is a joke, check out Detillier for evals and skip the poppycock of mayock. Mayock is seeking only to be talked about and the crazier stuff he puts out the more likely he is to get his television time. Egodystonic is mayock. I'm sure mayock was very pleased to have to eat crow when McFadden went sub 4.3. It is obvious that those criticizing McFadden have an agenda and are hell bent on being ridiculous by slotting him down. It won't happen but I'd bet dollars to donuts that McFadden could be a better DB than DRC. McFadden would be a S so the comparison would be apples and oranges like, but McFadden has athletitic abilities and football skills which are inimitable.

I am 100% sure that the Titans would not take DRC with their first round pick if he fell to them and they really know him since he plays all his homegames at LP field. If your hometown team ain't gonna take you because they know you then anyone who uses mayock as a source to promote the Saints taking him needs some remediation in why you draft whom you draft. mayock has no respect from any GM that I have heard comment on his abilities. As a matter of fact, mayock is more of a disability.

Is this a joke? DMac not a hard runner? You might want to go back and watch some film of him because you are sadly mistaken. People criticize him for trying to run people over too much. Everyone fumbles (except Marshall Faulk).

Mayock has Mendenhall over McFadden.

As far as Rivers goes, I think our Front Office has pretty much given up on drafting linebackers. We may take one, but it'll be the middle of the draft (3rd or 5th round), not early.

I think Matt Ryan will take the big tumble this year. If Atlanta doesn't pick him, it could be a big slide.

hey thanks 'rlpmd' thant was exactly the type or response i was after. i was thinking mayock was talking junk. just wanted someone who had more info to give me the lowdown.

Mayock really dislikes McFadden for some reason. I think he ranks him as the 15th best overall talent? He might be a good analyst, but his college player rankings are just the worst.

mayock said mcfadden's legs go dead on contact.

Really? How you figure that?

I think DRC can come in and beat out every CB on our roster not named Mike McKenzie.

He may do that, and could very well be a heck of a CB for many years, but that's not a lock.

Very true... but there are no "locks" in the draft... every player that is eligible for the draft has "bust" potential.

The love for DRC here is the love of his POTENTIAL. He's fast, he has ball skills and seems to have good instincts. He just hasn't proven that against quality competition yet (and didn't DOMINATE against marginal competition).

I couldn't agree more... but not even the guys that play in the big conferences in college play against NFL receivers. College receivers are not NFL receivers... any CB we take will get NFL coaching, and practice against NFL receivers... lets hope our new CB coach can do better than Shaw.

I honestly believe we'll pass on DRC. I think Clady may be higher on their board than DRC is, and we do need someone to come in challenge Stinccomb... I fear for Drew's life on that side of the line.
