Meanwhile Sean Payton is Sean Paytoning in Denver (2 Viewers)

I don’t really see people being disrespectful to Payton, but I do like this offense better…it’s really balanced. We can hit you from every angle on offense now…

I don’t think people are saying Payton was a scrub either…he was awesome most of the time but I remember a lot of us begging 🙏 to run the ball to kill clock. We didn’t and lost some games cause of it, cause he got “cute”….the guy did win us a Super Bowl.

This just seems more of friendly system to everyone on the offense.

First two Broncos drives today were three-and-outs. They have four on the day now. They had seven three-and-outs last week.

Saints punter Matt Hayball has punted three times in two complete games.

You know what the P in Payton stands for?

It stands for “punt… after a three-and-out”

The Broncos
Time’s running out, down two scores, now he’s gotta dial up his best stuff. After two offsetting penalties, then a third by the defense, he managed to lose three yards.

Another three-and-out, and luckily only about a minute elapsed off the game clock.

This is the guy y’all are saying you’d want back here tomorrow, mere hours after rolling a squad lots of you thought the team had no chance of beating.

That system Shanahan ran with Elway in Denver is essentially the same system that Kubiak runs with the Saints now. There are some tweaks and added window dressing with motion, but it's the same basic offensive system.
I’ve been telling yall to watch, 2009 (I believe) Kubiak (Sr) with Matt Shaub (Texans) vs Saints (Brees). It was a perfect comparison of the two systems at a high level. Brees won the game 49-47 ish. So our new system is rock solid even with an average Qb like Shaub. The reason Brees won was because he was slightly better than Shaub in accuracy.

Payton did great things with and for us, but there is no reason to look like Wolverine holding the picture of him.

More perplexing playcalling from CSP. Down by 1.54, with one TO left, and Lutz kicks it out the back of the end zone rather than attempting an on-side kick.

Every year of Sean Payton's greatest offensive seasons, he had a top rushing offense to go with the passing attack.

Trends come and go, but it's undeniable that successfully running the ball is a universal key to success.

I haven't seen anything from this game but the box score and that is telling me that nothing has changed. 35 Pass Atts with a Rookie QB vs 19 Rush Atts w/4 of those from the QB. He'll likely give the usual platitudes of finding a run/pass balance but there won't ever be a commitment to accomplishing that balance.

Edit: The Steelers won an ugly game by embracing the ugly! They did the opposite of what Den did, they ran it 36 times vs 20 passes.

I miss Sean Payton the head coach, but you’re right his scheme was boring and outdated. I’m glad that we have a modern offense in NOLA today.

The more perplexing call was to take the FG that close to the end zone. Go score a touchdown, then have Lutz boot a 55-yarder for OT later. Pittsburgh wasn’t moving the ball so well in the second half.
