Meanwhile Sean Payton is Sean Paytoning in Denver (2 Viewers)

I don’t really see people being disrespectful to Payton, but I do like this offense better…it’s really balanced. We can hit you from every angle on offense now…

I don’t think people are saying Payton was a scrub either…he was awesome most of the time but I remember a lot of us begging 🙏 to run the ball to kill clock. We didn’t and lost some games cause of it, cause he got “cute”….the guy did win us a Super Bowl.

This just seems more of friendly system to everyone on the offense.
I had flashbacks today on the drive Carr got intercepted on and the following one.

I haven't seen anything from this game but the box score and that is telling me that nothing has changed. 35 Pass Atts with a Rookie QB vs 19 Rush Atts w/4 of those from the QB. He'll likely give the usual platitudes of finding a run/pass balance but there won't ever be a commitment to accomplishing that balance.
Their running game has been putrid this year. They better figure out how to move the ball quick or they are competing with Carolina as the worst team in the league.

I really hope that happens

When Payton retires, I think he's going to want a GM job somewhere just like his mentor Bill Parcels. But, personally, I would not want Payton the GM. Payton head of scouting offensive players, maybe, but not as a GM.
I don’t think that would be as big of an option as you think.
Payton’s already close to equaling the total number of games coached with Parcels.
He’s the old coach now.

I think Payton just don't have the personnel out there yet. Might take another two years of good drafts to find it.

Don't know if Denver gives him those years though.

Payton's offense only needs an extremely intelligent QB, solid Center, two stud Guards, and two strong Tackles playing at a high level as a foundation. You know, hitting 5/5 on Offensive Linemen in a league where half the teams don't have a single good one and having a genuine franchise QB which more than half the teams in the league don't have.

The Manning offense never worked anywhere without Manning. The Brady offense never worked anywhere without Brady. The Brees offense... well the sentence completes itself.

The connection between a great coach and legendary qb is hard to replicate.

You have to adapt in the NFL, something SP couldn’t do.
It’s interesting because the 2021 season showed that Payton could adapt to his talent and still call effective plays. He leaned on his running backs and seemed less inclined to throw it until his QBs arm fell off.

But his team just looks like a mess and his offensive play calling seems really unimaginative. But that could just be that Denver really has very little talent.
