I was thinking along these same lines. I wish the stupidity of these people would take them out quicker. Unfortunately they are all vaxxed and it's their children that will suffer.

I want to say more but can't on here.
Fortunately they are stupid in other areas, like smoking. There is a rise in nicotine use is these morons, but unfortunately if they sicken themselves we may be footing the bill.

Because of “muh rights” they often don’t wear seatbelts, so the hope is they off themselves quickly and don’t linger to run up medical bills.

There are plenty of anti-vaxxers who say those diseases "weren't that bad"

None of them were there to see a US president in a wheelchair thanks to polio, but whatever.
Or someone in an iron lung. Yeah, but whatever.

When I worked for the hospital system in Austin, the team I was hired on to support as an analyst, predominantly supported un or under-funded patients with 4 very controllable & treatable chronic diseases (asthma, COPD, Diabetes, CHF) who used the ER as their primary care. We were in a meeting once and the medical director was basically like "it would be cheaper to let them die but that's not the humane response".

The majority of patients whose chronic illness was out of control was because they had severe mental issues and/or substance abuse issues. 80% were never going to get better without being institutionalized - it was a huge waste of money and we were never going to get many success stories. The program did work for people who were sane & couldn't control their illness due to lack of insurance & disease education but that was not the majority of who the program saw and the measurement of success to get grant payments was # of patients seen. So as long as you saw them once post-hospital admission, it counted for reimbursement.

The thing is, it takes awhile for most of them to die. They will burden the system a sheet ton before they pass away.

With all the DEI being stripped, cuts to Medicaid and other funding for those with disabilities, these dummies will learn really quick how difficult life will be when their child is disabled from completely preventable disease and there are no resources or adequate healthcare for their children and nobody will help them. It will be a very painful and unnecessary lesson and I feel most sorry for the innocent kids who are affected because they didn't deserve this.

I cannot fathom risking my son's life like that. I am glad this stupidity was not prevalent when he was born - not that I would have believed it. My mom + grandma were both nurses (grandma was a nurse for a long time at the state school for the kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities), my other grandma was a teacher and this crap would have never flown with them & I would have been lit the fork up.

I'm reminded of what a Dr. I know says.

Progress is seldom linear. It's usually like a butterfly gradually trending higher.
Sometimes you just have to let go the rope and let others learn from mistakes. It's not what you want, but you can't stop them.
After reading The Ape that Understood the Universe, see this more as a genetic filter on the pool of humanity. Humans like to think ourselves the pinnacle. Truth is we may be no different than something like Covid in that some variants are deadly and create victims along with themselves.

Yes, they can take us all with em. Also, an infinite number of things could wipe us from this universe and there's nothing I can do about it. I've given enough of my energy to it. Now I simply try to love myself enough to love them as they sheet their deathbeds. I think the phrase Bless your heart fits best.

After that, it was easy to agree with Mel. Let Them. The situation is the situation so you protect yourself best you can and hope to survive the idiodemic.

Or someone in an iron lung. Yeah, but whatever.
You know now that I think about it, it angers me more because these idiots WERE here to see Covid and millions die. But they tell themselves lies about all that too. Insanity. The lengths that some people will go to try to make themselves feel like they're smarter than everyone else.

So we have very timely updates on how stupid the US is (and it is very stupid indeed), do we have a current update on the status of the actual Measles outbreak? :hihi:

Edit: never mind i do it myself. 58 cases
Is Texas the only place where the outbreak is happening?
I want to know the race of these kids...I just want to see sum :hihi:

Measles cases in 2024

As of December 31, 2024, a total of 285 measles cases were reported by 33 jurisdictions: Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, New York State, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, and West Virginia.

There have been 16 outbreaks (defined as 3 or more related cases) reported in 2024, and 69% of cases (198 of 285) are outbreak-associated. For comparison, 4 outbreaks were reported during 2023 and 49% of cases (29 of 59) were outbreak-associated.

Honestly, seems more stupid than dangerous at this time. I recall there were some cases of vaxxed kids. Not 100% certain, but I don't think any in Tx that were vaxxed had to be hospitalized.
