[Merged] Payton says Jameis has a chance to be Saints next starter (long term, not talking about the game this week) (1 Viewer)

Sometimes, Sean Payton is so clear that people skim over his words and miss what he is saying. It sounds to me like he told Hill, when he signed his contract that he would be the starter if Drew went down . So he is holding to his word and Hill will have his chance to be the QB. However, nothing was promised for next year. He likes Winston and he would be starting him if not for the promise to Hill. He doesn't say Hill is the starter when Drew leaves, so he's saying I'm leaning toward what Winston can do.

He also goes out the way to say he likes the NBA Commissioner, another way of throwing shade on Goodell and his ways as a leader.

Also, is he looking at Lovie Smith if the Defense Coordinator position opens up?

We aren’t getting the #1 seed, and I don’t think home field anywhere else we’d play really matters. There’s no crowds and this team is perfectly comfortable playing smash mouth football outside.
And Sean says as much in the Pod. If there was a year when home field really wasn’t an advantage, than that year is this one.

Last week the Packers declared that they would not have fans at any of their games. So if you eliminate the fans all they are left with are the, and in the elements you want a strong defense and a ground game. We have those two things.

We will be alright.

I may be overthinking it, but I think one of the best things that could happen to us is a snow storm at Lambeau with no fans in the seats. It's our best chance to beat them. The Packers strength is and continues to be their deep ball game.

and the saints can actually run the ball this year, when they want to.

Agree with you there.

People crap on Brees because he is old, and playing in the cold probably isn’t conducive to him playing his best ball, but has anyone ran Rodgers numbers to see how he fares from the months of Aug-Oct and then from Nov and Dec (perhaps Jan). I am sure the sample size is pretty healthy, and his numbers aren’t a dramatic drop off, but I can’t see him improving when the temps drop.

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by that. That's why Winston came here: learn from some of the best in the business, within a winning organization, and possibly get a shot when Drew retires.
