Michael Thomas - Sports Science (1 Viewer)

66/67 one handed catches. Our very own Odell Beckham. This is what we have been waiting for. A No.1 WR for Drew Brees.

Reminds me of the Arrington video after he was drafted.

So is Thomas the 3rd big 10 receiver drafted by Payton?

I always wondered why the NFL combine only recorded a no step vert. How often does anyone jump straight up from a standstill?

Probably the same reason they don't get to have a running start for the long jump. They are testing for pure explosiveness while removing extra variables like timing and speed.

Only thing that scares me is his ability to pick up the playbook. Other than that, he looks to be a very solid player.

All I have to say is...
Hand Yoga.
Talk about some one dedicated to getting better.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as hand yoga.
Its not just hype either.
In the last 2 years he had 151 catchable passes thrown to him.
He only had 5 drops. That's 3.3%.
You only see those numbers for really good backs with very short throws.
66/67 one hand catches.
Tall long arms big hands rairly drops the ball.
Really excited about him.

That means he caught 96.7 percent of the passes thrown his way. On my grading scale that's an A+.

Yes I love this kid! I was shocked he made it to 47. I was screaming please take Thomas or Reed!! If we wouldn't of been so thin at receiver I would of loved to have gotten Jarran Reed, but Michael Thomas was a perfect fit. I still think Treadwell would of been an even better fit, but this guy came in a really close second with Josh Doctson. Drew hasn't had a receiver like this guy IMO. Meachem was supposed to be a big, fast #1 or #2 receiver, but that didn't pan out. If Fleener and this guy ball out like we hope, we WILL be REALLY dangerous on O. Then if Brandon Coleman improves to be a damn good #4 guy, holy SSSS!! Can't wait to see Drew throwing this guy the ball!!

Cooks, Thomas, Snead, Coleman, Fleener, and Hill

vs

Colston, Devery, Lance, Meachem, Shockey, and D. Thomas

Pretty close and could be even better IMO!

I've been kind of busy lately, but did Watson get cut?

can he contend for the neck title, or is it just too wide receiver-y?

Getting drafted where he was will give him a big chip on his shoulder to prove himself I see great things from this kid and he couldn't be in a better opportunity. I would be very surprised if he doesn't make a spot for himself barring injury or something unforseen

What excites me is his ability to get YAC. It's been a long time since the Saints had a big WR good at getting YAC. Colston was an incredible receiver but basically only got the yardage where he caught the ball. He wasn't a big break away threat. Watching Thomas at Ohio St. he breaks arm tackles, slips defenders, creates yardage after the catch. This should bring a whole new dimension to the Saints they haven't had in years.

With all the work you do in the off season, which by the way is truly impressive. You could probably be a scout.
I find it pretty odd that you're so anti picks sometimes.
You have no clue how good this guy could be.
Yeah, he could totally flop. But he could also turn out to be the best WR we've every drafted.

You of all people know that it takes time to get to used to NFL completion and to hone your game.
Just some food for thought. It's happy time right now until reality hits us all in the face.

I can't realistically be for every pick.

I've just been through the "one-handed catch," "NFL Bloodlines," "has great measurables song and dance before." We all Have.

I was very for the Von Bell, Onyemata, and Lasco selections. I raved about 7 of the UDFA pick ups. I even had Michael Thomas as one of my top 7 redzone receivers in the class but whatever praise that I add usually gets drowned out by the slightest bit of criticism. I'm not an expert here and I never claim to be. I just post what I see, which can be as wrong as anyone here.

What I do like about Thomas is his redzone potential.

Thomas, Jordan Williams, and Dangerfield were 3 of my top 7 redzone guys pre-draft,/Pre-Moritz Boehringer proday and they all help in short yardage situations like Colston used to.

Redzone/Jump ball receivers

Keyaris Garrett
Laquon Treadwell
Mitch Matthews
Jordan Williams
Michael Thomas (OSU)
Jared Dangerfield
