Microsoft Paid The NFL $400 Million To Use Its Tablets, But Announcers Are Calling Them iPads

After subjecting us to that atrocious "HONESTLY I WANNA SEE YOU BE FREE!" ad campaign, this news makes me smile. Poor, poor Microsoft..

*giggle*.

I believe the song is "I Wanna See You Be Brave" by Sara Bareilles.

"Ambush marketing is a marketing strategy wherein the advertisers associate themselves with, and therefore capitalize on, a particular event without paying any sponsorship fee."
Ambush marketing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This has been a problem with the world cup, so I would not be shocked if these strategies transfer to other sports like the NFL.

Besides, does a deal with the NFL necessarily make it a deal with Fox or NBC, who employ the announcers, and who have their own advertising and commercial deals?

It's the price you pay for knocking off someone else's product.

Luckily for Microsoft/Google, etc it looks like Apple doesn't know how to innovate anymore so maybe they'll be able to coin their own term for once.

I guess the NFL can educate it's own guys...well, maybe, one of them is Deion Sanders...but how would it control Fox, NBC, and the local media guys?

Should have called them what everybody else calls them...fake iPads. :covri: :smilielol:

(not a fan of Gates or Apple)

Sorry Sharon, you couldn't be more wrong. I can do so much more with my surface than I can an ipad, which basically is a large iPhone that hasn't innovated in over 4 years. Instead of taking a laptop on vacation, I now take my surface and can remote to the office and control the servers. You can't do that on an ipad, but you can play with over 1000 fart apps. New iPhone 6 is out. They have two new sized and NFC, which other phone OS's have had for over two years. But all the isheep will claim it's great and they invented big phones.

Not true. I remote to my work PC and multiple production windows servrers and sql servers from my iPad all the time from anywhere.

I glad that this thread has gone in this direction. I was looking on the internet for places where people debated the merits of Apple products vs. non-Apple products, but I was having trouble finding any.

I would assume the broadcast deal with the NFL covers NFL sponsors, and how they are to be treated.
