Microsoft Zune (1 Viewer)

I got my 20 GB iPod (first click wheel generation) a couple years ago.. It worked great for awhile and then I started having all sorts of problems with it.. Tried reformatting, resetting, all of it.. Nothing worked.. I finally got the sad Mac face.. Apparently I'm supposed to send it back to Apple..

Contact Apple they will send you a box. Free shipping. You'll get a replacement within a few days. You can probably do it through an Apple Store as well.

Even though the iPod is several years old? How much will it cost me?

Actually, if you're into Vendor lock-down, restricted to inferior codecs, and love/support DRM hell, then the iPod is just for you. :hihi:

I listened to an iAudio7 a few weeks back and was blown away by the quality of it. It will play ALL of my music files. (FLAC/Ogg/MP3). I will be buying one for my wife next week. I would like to get the A3 for myself, but @ $400 (ouch!), will have to think about it some.

And yes, I'm for technology that isn't rushed out which is why I use Apple products. Please don't try to say Microsoft gets the bugs out and then releases.
Great, now I have to clean the coffee off my screen!
OMG, your either a salesman, or haven't worked in too many Mac shops. That an appalling statement.

And didn't this whole thread start because of a Zune not working?
correct! ... and who jacked this thread? and then who ran with it?

You can play MP3s from any source on the ipod and store them in itunes. Most of my music was transferred from my CDs to itunes. There's no DRM on them. Most other download services have had worse DRM than itunes until recently. Thanks to Steve Jobs pushing the record companies to allow DRM free downloads, everyone is able to enjoy MP3s minus the DRM.

Don't agree with you on the sound quality, but I understand there are audio purists that see things differently than I do.

You got me on the threadjack. It did kind of turn out that way.

Didn't realize it wasn't under warranty. Did you have Applecare for ipod?

If not, I'd replace it.

Nope.. No Applecare.. I got the iPod for free through one of those internet conga line sites.. Can't really complain since I didn't pay for it initially, but I'm upset that it didn't last longer than 2 years..

I have had to reformsat my iPod several times, but I don't see what the big deal is. It takes maybe 30 minuted to reformat and re-upload my music back. I can do that while watching Robot Chicken on Joost.

Chances are that every piece of electronic equipment is going to give someone trouble at some point in time...

I got a Zune because it was a gift. It runs mp4s fine. Am I missing something?

i don't understand why they didn't choose ogg or flac, smaller file sizes and no license.
