I don't think it's outside the realm of possibilities that the Saints would sweeten a deal to unload Carr. It's not a trade we can win on other than cap space, which if I'm understanding the overthecap simulator correctly, would be really advantageous in a post June 1st trade. And if you're Carr, and a team like the Steelers were interested, why wouldn't you want to make that move?

All very speculative, but I could see a scenario where Moore wants to start remaking the team now and an aging veteran wouldn't be a part of that approach.

The cut with a June 1 designation was to allow cut players to get a new job while teams still had money during free agency. The teams still have to carry the cap number until June. In the case of a trade, that need is not there.

FWIW, Everett made the playoffs multiple times and to a NFC Championship Game at one point.

When he actually had good teams, he produced. I think too much attribution is given sometimes to a QB when it comes to lack of team success.

Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, but has multiple losing/mediocre seasons on his resume as a direct result of the team surrounding him.

We can’t complain and complain about Dennis Allen, Pete Carmichael, all the injuries, Mickey Loomis, etc. or talk about the Raiders dysfunction then turn around and say Carr should have overcome that.

Yep. I remember those years. Brees had so many bad games in 14-16. No TD scored in the Giants game in 16. Defense played well. Against Eagles, Commanders, and Texans in 15, the offense got completely rattled. The OL had issues to go with the bad defense and that was reasons and excuses given for Brees' off games. Saints struggled against tough pass defenses these years. Brees wouldn't get blamed and he shouldn't, but the OL didn't get much blame either. We know the OL is bad, worse than it was then. Imagine Brees playing behind this OL then.

I know this isn't Derek but Darren comparing is brother, who is a QB to the career of a guy that's going, theoretically, to be his head coach is a pretty insecure thing to start with. It is right on brand with the Carr family though.

I don’t understand how it can even get you in trouble, apparently it’s quite derogatory to be called someone of the Carr family, which goes against the terms of service, but then again, maybe if you don’t stock every Carr thread and talk like you have inside knowledge and religiously defence DC, you wouldn’t be considered potentially a burner account lol
