Miller haters still hating? (1 Viewer)

Nobody is hating. We just want to see better production.
Early days, but I honestly don’t see the kind of burst and quickness in Miller that I’ve seen in some other backs drafted around where he was taken or later. Nothing he’s done has led me take a quick breath and say “wow!” Of course I recall having the same impression of Mark Ingram in his rookie camp. It took a while but he turned out to be a pretty good back…
None of our backs have burst in the running game if that’s the case. The O-Line isn’t creating enough holes for any of them to rush for more than 3 ypc.

Miller had a couple nice runs last night. One went for a TD in the redzone. Miller and Merriweather consistently made plays in the receiving game.

I openly questioned Miller in a few posts after his debut but did say he’d get a chance to prove himself. He took a huge step in that direction. That reception was a thing of beauty and his TD run was very good. Miller’s performance took me from pessimism to optimism. I’ll gladly eat crow.

Eye test says Spears more explosive and shifty than Miller, injury concerns aside. I know that ship has sailed and any Spears injury would get “ I told you so’s” but we’re talking back up 3rd down RB here and the Spears supporters do have a point. With RB shelf life 3 or 4 years, the gamble was probably worth it. Just my opinion.

This and his pass catching. He did so little of it in college and looked good so far.
Yep. His average was like 2.1ypc I think, which is terrible. I liked both the pass catching and blitz pick up tho.

Edit:
10-23-2.3.

Just because someone critiques a player doesn’t mean they’re a “Hater!” Every player has some faults and as fans we call those players out on it. Lots of people we criticizing Drew’s lack of arm strength in his last 2 years but NOBODY “hated” Drew. Just because someone called out “your” player for something doesn’t make them a hater!

Feeling like there were better players available when we took Miller…. Is not hate. And yes, I still feel that way, and I hope to be completely wrong.
I agree with this.

And as far as yesterday it’s also not like he gave a definitive performance. The wheel route was great and it was good to see him succeed in the passing game which he admitted he needed to work on in the NFL. Also of course he had that TD. But almost every other carry left something to be desired. Not looking too deep into yet considering the line play was bad yesterday.

I think Miller will be a good player, our oline in the run game tho looks like trash
Seemed to be missed blocks, assignments, penalties. Lots to be cleaned up. But when they could block the right person they seemed to push the LOS in the right direction. I'm so scarred by over a decade of mostly soft Saints OL/run game that I latched on to that as a positive.
