Moore's QB Type (4 Viewers)

I think it’s only natural to speculate that Moore would lean towards wanting to emulate the style of play that got him a Super Bowl ring. I don’t think it’s an off the wall assumption that he may have had an epiphany directing the Philly offense and may want to find his own Jalen Hurts style player.

But yes, sure, he has worked with several QB types and it is worth noting. He’s not locked into one particular style.

Great coaches fit their system to the players they have rather than shoehorn the players into a system. I'd say it's a good thing he has so much experience with different QBs. Hopefully he picks the best one we can get and we roll on to a Superbowl in a few years. At this point I have to trust Moore's experience and just wait and see. But it is a good discussion topic to have...

Moore's QB types seem to be accurate passer and able to scramble and run the ball which to me leaves Sanders out because he has no pocket presents and holds the the ball to long to protect his passer rating and takes too many sacks. We can all agree Ward will not be there at 9 so besides Dart what other QB best fits Moore's QB type?

No pocket presence? I dunno. I see him moving around avoiding pressure a lot. And very instinctively too. He also has a way of doing it that keeps him square to the receiver.

Coming out of college the closest QB comparison I can make, prospect to prospect, is Brees. Highly accurate, bit undersized, average arm, good feel for the game

Folks are looking at the sacks and assuming he doesn't when he's pretty good in the pocket. The issues are the bad line CU had and the habit of trying to play hero ball. It's definitely something he has to work on because Caleb had a similar issue when he came out. Also, when did 6'2 become undersized?

I don’t think he has a type as others have also stated but if you’re asking what type of QB he had success with in Philly then someone like hurts who makes 1 or 2 quick reads and if neither are there you either look to check to the RB or take off yourself.

We simply don’t know his QB type. We’ve never seen him pick on. Prescott, Herbert and Hurts were all picked for him.

Anyone claiming to know what his QB type is guessing. Including myself. I tend to think he likes scrambling QBs who look to pocket pass first. But it’s a guess

Yep. Every time I watched Philly play while Moore was there, he kept things so simple for Hurts. It’s why I feel that one of these QBs, even Milroe, could operate that version of Moore’s system.

Perhaps Rattler can too, however I have a feeling that Moore is going to strongly want his own guy.

Yup. Head coaching gigs are hard to get, and just as hard to keep. Coaches in these positions want to succeed or fail on their own choices rather then risk failing on someone else's.

That can be true but Rattler is only a second year player who Moore and these coaches scouted a season ago. I think how they view him at this point is heavily influenced by the overall sense they already have of him as a prospect through that scouting process. Nothing yet strongly indicates what that assessment is, though Moore has talked briefly about some of the positives with Rattler.

Good insight David. And we know that CSP thinks highly of Rattler (we'll at least we're pretty certain?!). And given the similarities between CSP and CKM as offensive gurus and QB whisperers, I think it's safe to say that if CSP liked what he saw, then CKM probably likes what he saw/sees also. But with that being said, it would be VERY short-sighted on CKMs part to rely on the previous regime's selection of Rattler, with no "fallback option" in case of failure.

Agreed. I’ll be surprised if we don’t come out of this draft with a QB, though I’m settling more into the belief of taking a guy in rounds 2 or 3. Of course if they really like a guy in round 1, they have to take their shot. I just think after Ward, the differences in the next group of QBs probably isn’t as remarkable as pundits are making it out to be. I think it’s why we’re seeing predictions on a few of these guys really vary.

While Moore was with the Eagles, he had the luxury of being on a team that was not only solid on offense but on defense as well. The Eagles were a well rounded team. Right now, the Saints are not. I don't think it matters who the Saints have this year at QB, this position will be exposed due to the fact this team is in rebuilding mode. I'm all in for a QB that Moore wants as long as he doesn't give up picks to move up in the draft. No QB in this years draft class is worth that.
