Movies You Wish You Could See Again For the First Time (3 Viewers)

All movies who take an unforeseen turn into a plot no one saw coming (well, I didn't, anyway). I wish I could experience that surprise again. There are a lot of movies with "surprise twists" that either aren't surprising or are just stupid. The following don't have surprise endings, they have surprise middle plot twists.

The G-ds Must Be Crazy. Still one of my favourite comedies; great plot twist right when one has decided he walked into the wrong theater.

Into the Night. A Hallmark channel stereotype broken couple movie suddenly turns into a wild ride. "Why can't I sleep?"

Adaptation. Comedic story about lack of self confidence suddenly turns really wacky.

Psycho. I had the perfect first experience as I hadn't even heard of the film when I saw it at age 13. I was completely caught up in the heist and had no idea at all that was coming.

Barton Fink. The Cohen Brothers have made several great films, but also a few lousy ones (I despise Fargo to this day). To me, Barton Fink is their best film, even though I probably enjoyed Raising Arizona more. The crazy rabbit hole this film goes down is just about the apex of such a move. Great movie.

And lastly, 2001. It doesn't really change in plot, but changes perspective greatly when we come aboard the ship, and goes from sci-fi mystery to sci-fi thriller, then ultimately returns to sci-fi mystery in what is still one of the most mind-blowing sequences ever put to celluloid.

Okay, it's that time of year and the movie that is making me wish that is "Halloween". I love scary movies but once you've seen them and know what's happening, it's just not the fun kind of scared anymore.

"Jaws" is probably my next one for the same reason.
Great subject!

Star Wars - The magic of that movie alone is astounding!! The wide eyed "good always wins" movie, cheering at the screen at the end is magical.

Oh jeez, watched that at the show on original release with a fella who was dying of AIDS when pretty much everyone in his original life had abandoned him. He giggled and laughed uproariously throughout, especially during the alien probe scene with Doogie Howser.

Great memory, knowing that it gave him such a silly two hour reprieve from the realities of life. I would love to have that experience with him again.

Lamb. I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I saw it on opening night 3+ years ago.
I never even heard of that.

Thank you for sharing that story.

No love for The Crying Game? :hihi:
Never watched the movie, but I saw the preview, and the twist, it wasn't a twist for me; I saw that a mile away in the trailer itself.

I'm trying really to think of any time I sat in a movie theater in awe of a scene like I did when I was 12 years old watching the opening scene in Star Wars, and I can't think of any.

Then there was that time when my friend Fly (that was his nickname, RIP) popped an inflated bag of pop corn during a climatic scene in Halloween, the entire theater screamed, and we got in a fist fight with the row in front of us because my friend scared the bejesus out of 2 dudes in front of their girlfriends (the shrieked like beaches).

Then there was that time... nah... not going there :hihi:
