Murder (1 Viewer)

Murders in NOLA will continue because it's a vicious cycle not just in society as a whole where uneducated parents breed uneducated and ignorant children, but in the criminal justice system as well.

When a murder goes down, most times witnesses won't come forward. Now there are two things at play here. One, I can somewhat understand, and the other that just infuriates me.

1. Witnesses feel they will face retribution from the thugs and can't be adequately protected by NOPD. In some ways I can't fault those that feel this way. When has NOPD proven to be competent? Would you trust your safety to them? Although idealistically, you would like people to take a stand and say enough's enough, I'm going on the stand no matter what, how realistic is it in that type of environment where it's proven that's a death sentence?

2. Apathy. This is the part that the white community doesn't understand. I'm not labeling all of NOLA's black community as being apathetic because it isn't, but its leaders say the stupidest things to make one believe that is how they truly feel. "Blip" "slight increase" etc. Those are not the words of an enraged community. The black community of NOLA is killing itself from within, but the so-called people's politicians and leaders aka Nagin, Jordan, Riley, the ministers, etc. refuse to take responsibility and would rather blam "the man." I feel for those within the community that want this to end and don't know how. The problem is you have a large uneducated voting bloc that has been fed lies and half truths about the evil white men keeping them down for generations.

Ah yes, Mr. Jordan. In law school, he must have been absent the day they discussed how unreliable eyewitness testimony is. He should realize that you can't intimidate a camera into not testifying.

Well he definitely showed up for the day of how to bungle the prosecution of crimes. Although I think he walked in late and though this was how you were supossed to do it.

My question about Eddie Jordan is this:

Is there another DA in the country who's been convicted of a crime while in office?

He's been convicted of racial discrimination and somehow it's back-page news and I imagine that there are locals who don't even know about it. What has to happen to get that guy out?

Is this true at all? I don't know where this claim came from. I'm sure you're not being literal here, but I don't think this is accurate at all. I think the NOPD has gotten many new vehicles in the last two years, and I don't really think this is an area of concern at all. But I could be wrong.

there are still some cops who have not received replacement equipment from after Katrina. there is an unofficial NOPD employee message board, and if you read it, you will be scared to go back into N.O. I will try and find the link
