How could someone in this guys position forget that Peyton Manning is a huge reason for the Colts' success for the better part of this decade?

So just how uncomfortable are Colts fans becoming over the recent performances of quarterback Peyton Manning? The team’s in-house radio announcer — by definition an overt homer for the organization — trashed Manning during Sunday’s four-pick performance against the Cowboys while off the air but behind a microphone that was sufficiently hot to pick up his words.

Our friends at StampedeBlue.com explain the comments of Bob Lamey, who reportedly said that NFL defenses had “figured Manning out,” that he should be benched for Curtis Painter, and that the Colts should draft Manning’s replacement in 2011.

Shocking, but I've never liked that guy, after listening to how much a homer he is on the Super Bowl broadcast. Reminded me of the LSU Tigers PBP guy who's name escapes me. He'll get so angry about the way his team is playing, he'll forget it's his job to explain to the listening audience what's happening.

He's horrible. I've never heard an announcer yell for flags more than that guy.

Maybe the radio guy should trash the GM and coaches for not getting Peyton someone to throw to other than 3 guys.

I don't really see the big deal. If it was off the air, then he was probably just venting in the heat of the moment.

Lord knows there are people on this very board that suggested just this season that we should sit Drew Brees and give Chase Daniel a look-see. People typed that (or variances of that) and then clicked submit.

I think "Manning Face" jokes are funny, and you would be a moron to not admit Peyton is really struggling lately, regardless of the reason. But to suggest that he should be benched for Curtis Painter is just stupid.

I remember seeing them in the gameday boards. The people who clicked submit should be benched. :jpshakehead:

Wow. How can someone with such an intimate view of the organization think and vocalize something so absurd? We've all said stuff in anger, but this is beyond angry talk. Acceptable agry talk from this guy would be something along the lines of "Peyton should remove that 'vote me for MVP' tatoo from his forehead".

Yeah, we all know Peyton has a Favre sized ego, and we know he doesn't really like to run the ball, but with the injuries and lack of capable running back/run blockers/defense/pass protection, the guy looks like any other qb in that situation-- pedestrian. Maybe it's time everyone takes notice that Manning isn't the G.O.A.T., but just plain great, so long as he has the support around him. No different than any other mortal.

To me this doesn't do anything but prove that this is certainly a "what have you done for me lately" world.

Your accoplishments over time really don't matter all that much. First sign of decline or an extended slump and they'll turn on you.

Always try to go out on top, on your own terms.

Looking towards the future........sure, fair enough.

But to suggest benching Peyton Manning is just lunacy. Some changes need to made over there, but The Forehead isn't it.

Agreed and it's sad.... and dumb... I'm not a Manning fan but I respect the guy... He's been great for many years but now, after losing all of his receivers, "defenses have caught up to him" Pretty freaking slow if they're just catching up now....

The guy has earned his respect and deserves to get some.. It's amazing to me how people turn on you so quickly in life..
