N/S Denver willing to trade Orton (1 Viewer)

Carolina needs a lot more than a quarterback. Just sayin'.

There is no such thing as a can't miss NFL prospect when it comes to QB's. For everyone that translates from the collegiate game there are two that do not.

While I think it would be insane for Carolina to forego the opportunity to get a potential franchise QB even with less than 50% odds, it would be even more insane than to dismiss signing Orton who has proven he can be a VERY GOOD NFL QB in the right system. Like 500 yards single game passing and leading the lead in efficiency for almost half the season good.

One is a proven- albeit older- commodity. The other is nothing more than Joey Harrington, Todd Marinavich, Jeff George, Alex Smith, JaMarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, etc (could list a hundred, really) at this point...

Couldn't agree more, them using a second round pick to get a rather good quarterback, they can use their first round pick to address another need, that would make them a much more solid team..... hopefully the panthers would do exactly the opposite.

Depends on whether you want to go for the homerun or not. Orton is what he is - an average to slightly above average QB. It does not appear that he will ever be a superstar. A rookie could be a complete bust. I do not see Carolina trading for him as it would be tough to justify trading a #3 and another pick (they do not have a #2) for that type of QB and then spending top $ at #1 for anything other than a QB in this draft. Now if they can trade down from #1, that may change. Orton is OK, but he is not the most accurate passer. He needs to get his completion % up to be considered a good QB IMO.

Orton would be very good in place like Arizona or Minnesota where they have players at the skill spots and just need a QB.

Arizona, SF, Minnesota could all improve dramatically if they simply had a steady QB. Orton is that.

Orton reminds me of a pre-Saints Drew in some ways.

If I'm in need of a QB I would definetily make a play for him. If Im Seattle, Arizona, Vikings, or Miami Im making a move. They already have the pieces in place.

I won't count Orton's first year, as he was forced to start almost immediately his rookie season.

Outside of that, his first three seasons as a starter he was 901 for 1504 for a 60% completion percentage. Further, he threw 59 TD's against 33 Int's for a rating of 84.3.

Drew Brees completed 787 passes out of 1282 attempts for a completion percentage of 61% his first three seasons as a starter. He threw 65 TD's against 38 Int's for a rating of 83.0

This, despite Orton playing primarily in poor weather (Chicago) and Brees playing in perfect weather (S.D.).

Orton is and has always been underrated. He is no Brees at this point, but Brees has made himself through study and willpower the last few seasons. There is nothing different from their career paths at this respective point in their careers.

Minnesota would be a good spot for him. He would have a solid running game and skill players to support him. He would not have all the pressure on him.

From your lips to God's ears.....

Some worried people in Carolina theorize that if Harbaugh goes to Denver, then they will try to either get Carolina to trade down one spot to get Luck (although Carolina's owner in his presser today said we would not trade down) OR if we draft Luck then he is "encouraged" to hold out to demand a trade (like Mr. Elway).

Also from the presser today, seems Carolina will be going for a Coordinator instead of pursuing Harbaugh.

Well, if Denver requires a 2nd for him, Carolina doesn't have a 2nd rounder. That was traded to get Armanti Edwards.
