Hernandez, Sharper, Winslow.... Good grief. Why does stuff this crazy seem to be more common in football players than baseball, basketball, etc?

Higher sample size with bigger teams, maybe. It also takes a person with some aggression towards play football. I was decent at most sports but awful at football because I just didn't want to contact and rough people up. Even martial arts I felt less guilt kicking someone than tackling them. Anecdotal.

But yeah, I always hated this guy.

I’m kind of tired of everything being pointed at concussion. Brain injury experts are literally rolling their eyes at this story. People can’t be responsible for their own deeds anymore. It’s gotta be X...the drug, the environment, society...it’s a joke

What brain injury experts are rolling their eyes? Why are those things a joke? Each individual is assessed case-by-case and if any of those factors are found to have played a huge role, we need to ignore it and play the "personal responsibility/bootstraps" trope? Are we going to say Jovan Belcher was just a murdering criminal and completely ignore his symptoms of severe brain damage leading up to his crime?

For too many people, apparently so. Along with brain damage possibly playing a role, there's also the possibility that substances he used to get bigger and stronger affected his personality. I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with "roid rage." It's a very real thing. Some athletes are now using substances that have never been tested for their affect on personality and personal behavior. But hey, let's just roll our eyes at those possibilities too and defer to the medical and psychiatric expertise of non-doctors and non-psychiatrists.

The nfl is to blame for his crimes...certainly he's not to blame...can't make him take responsibility...those rich owners didn't care enough or change the rules so no one gets a concussion and then didn't pay for his therapy and I almost forgot...they forced him to play football ***sarcasm now off***
