.. and it’s his SIXTH dui…. SIX dui arrests ?? I dont care who you are, that's a disgrace.. and that means it's only six times he's gotten CAUGHT.. It’s a miracle he hasnt killed or maimed someone else …. Driving under the influence is an epidemic in this country, throw his a** under the jail and leave him there for a few years .

I seem to remember growing up in Louisiana that there were plenty of people with that many DUIs still driving and not in jail. Might not be just a Texas thing.

I personally knew someone in Mandeville who had more than six dui’s, going back over 30 years ago …. for the longest time he kept buying his way out of jail, but then he wound up doing serious prison time, several years but i forget how many.. i think ur right though, most people wind up getting off and never learn their lesson .

They're not addressing the underlying issue.

It's the way the legal system works. Used to be a crime reporter in Louisiana back in the (long ago) day.... A person gets a DWI first offense, he pleads guilty to DWI-1. Next time, he's get a DWI-2. He pleads guilty to a "one." He gets a third DWI, he pleads guilty again -- to a "one." He gets a fourth. He pleads guilty to a "one." And it goes on and on. I don't know if they've changed the law down there in the 30-plus years since I covered that stuff. Might be the case in many other states. The DAs want guilty pleas. It improves their percentage of guilty verdicts that they can take to voters. Not saying it's right. Saying it's the system. Or was all those years ago.

Yeah, but that’s two seperate things.. the person who continues to get dui’s for sure has issues, and should seek help to try and fix them.. but in re to the legal system- one person’s trauma or psychological issues doesnt give them the right to get behind the wheel while drunk or buzzed when my family uses the same roadways…. So yeah that person should be getting help, and also the legal system should have extremely harsh consequences for someone who is a repeat dui offender in order to keep them from hurting or killing other innocent people.. both things are true .
