And here we go:

Former Montreal Alouettes receiver Duron Carter, who signed with the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts this past off-season, became a free agent when the Colts declined to offer him a futures contract to remain on the team’s practice roster.

I thought this guy, with some training, could be a star.

He is still to me like a bigger, faster Robert Meachem. I big guy with speed that is not afraid to get dirty and block.

I wanted the saints to give him a look, even when they got him in his rookie year.

Anyways, I am hoping he comes back to my Montreal Alouettes, we really need younger receivers, and to settle on a quarterback of the future.

Has he produced anywhere, college included, or done anything except be Chris Carter's son?

Yes, two extraordinary CFL seasons in Montreal, playing under suspected quarterbacks. The guy dominated around here.

But Indy was a stupid place for him to go, so I don't think your analysis was off due to his being released. I mean, they have a number one and a number two in place, drafted a first round receiver, and signed Andre Johnson going into the season. Plus they have two legitimate targets at the tight end position. He made a huge mistake in my opinion.

There are a mountain of guys playing in Canada for 30k a year who just don't have what it takes in NFL. Succeeding up there doesn't really mean much.

He had signed before Andre Johnson and the Dorsett pick if I remember correctly. I remember him picking the colts because of Lucks "greatness" over other options.

I mean....Snead was released by two teams before coming here....id still give him a look. He's got all the measurables you'd want

But sometimes it does, case of Brandon Browner, Cameron Wake, Delvin Breaux, etc.

Not every single player who brakes it in the CFL will make it south. But some will, and we have benefited for that.

I still think that Carter with the right coaching can make it, but if not, I hope he returns to Montreal where he was building a solid career.

I still think he can take the role Robert Meachem had in our offense. His last year in Canada he got over 1,000 yards with poor quarterbacks, and btw, the guy has lived a lot and still is only 24 years old.

Worth a look...

What's the exchange rate, g? If it's a 1000-yard season Canadian, is it 800 yards American? :hihi:

Worst, I think we are around 700. Food is getting crazy expensive!

Frankly I think you should go out back and flog yourself with cat and iron tails.

But seriously Guilermo, lay off yourself. Life is too short. You provide the board so much valuable info that we would not have access to. And what you give us about the CFL players is awesome. You nailed Breaux last year. You should be head of Saints scouting.

I like that he can go up and get the contested passes. Brees loves throwing into double coverage and trusting his guys to go up and get it. I think this kid could be a real asset with a decent QB. His Canadian QB looked like he was just chuckin it up everytime and praying Carter caught it.
