name a band that ****** you off because they got soft. (2 Viewers)

Hate to be the guy to say this out loud, Pink Floyd.

Oh and Master of Puppets > ...And Justice for All.

I'm going to try not to threadjack to much, but I'm curious why people feel that the Metallica "black" album is a bad album? I personally like the album almost cover to cover. Can anyone elaborate on what makes it bad?

When did you started listening to Metallica? Just wondering because I think most of the opposition to it comes from the fact that it was a drastic departure from what they'd done before. I don't have any issues with the Black album, but it was the first Metallica album that I heard.

to quote Run:

so "bands" don't have to just be 4 white kid C students from Lawrence, KS who back their dad's impala out of the garage to practice their rise to fame as a Molly Hatchet cover band

and cube has gone from an N with an attitude to someone who's movies make Tyler Perry's look street

Speaking of Molly Hatchet, anything after Double Trouble Live sucks :hihi:

I did start listening to them sometime between the black album and when Load was released. I guess I didn't have a preconceived notion of what Metallica is "supposed" to be. I love the Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets albums as well, though. I guess for me, it's all what I know of as Metallica.

Metallica will ALWAYS be the first band that comes to mind if you follow the metal genre. But if you look at in a perspective of how these bands came to be and are now it HAS to change. If a member of the band leaves, thats pretty much automatically softens the band no matter which member/instrument leaves. And if we're talking metal, most of these bands were young. Meaning as they get older, their "anger" dissapates. That type of emotion is gone and they WILL sound different. If you start off angry at the world, you think you'll stay angry forever? That emotion and originality of the band dissolves and they relax more and just make music. The whole thing about making music is, it's not for you. Its for THEM! Its an epression they felt at that time. That feeling doesnt stay with you forever. Thats my .02

I remember hearing Sugar Ray on the Road Rash 64 soundtrack with this:

Next thing you know, the guy is hosting VH1 specials.

Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to Starship!!!
***....From White Rabbit to We Built This City...unbelievable sellout by Grace Slick, et al.

Oh god kiwisaint I forgot about Starship. However, I have to hand it to Slick. At least after that Built this city garbage she quit the industry and moved to the central California coast to paint.

My favorite thing about metallica fans is that I've heard different people say they sold out after every album up until load. Honestly, the only album I don't think I heard anybody say they sold out after is ride the lightning. I think the time their biggest change in sound came after kill 'em all and then after and justice for all.

For me personally, I started listening to them after reload came out, but was introduced to them with enter sandman. I still like every album except re-load and st. anger, but I can find some songs on there that I like.

Metallica really just gets a big meh from me all the way around...i mean, they made some pretty good music and all but i never really got into them

Pantera > Metallica...every day and twice on Sunday :17:

311. First two albums are a couple of my favorite of all time, then, eh. I still manage to find a couple songs off of each of their later albums to get into, but none of it is as ****** as this:

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/W8QU6eb5i40" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/KEnnrVmYZco" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't know. 311 is still one of my favorite bands, even today.
