New Mannings sports restaurant opening downtown (3 Viewers)

He did not make donations to the assessor's office. He donated to the assessor's campaign. When he won he gave his supporters lower assessments. I think Archie payed around 3k a year less.

While I don't agree with the practice I don't think it makes him the worse person ever. He got a 3k tax break on his house. It's not like he had a freezer full of bribe money. I can't think of any other former players who have stuck around NOLA and made the kind of contributions he has.

And hoping he goes broke when all he's doing is getting a check for the use of his name and making appearances is laughable.

Regarding Archie's new restaurant concept, good luck with that. The food better be good.

I have a feeling the food will be similar to that at other celebrity restaurants.

It will be good but not amazing and slightly overpriced relative to other restaurants of similar quality. You probably won't have a bad experience with the food or service, but after paying $14 for a burger or $13 for a shrimp po-boy you will probably just go somewhere else next time.

A lot of their customers will be tourists or curious locals who only go once. Business wise it will probably be a success.

Of course he paid SOME tax. He just paid MUCH less because of his friendly donation. This does not make feel one iota better about the scumbag.

You realized he just participated within the system that is available for all, right? I've been down to talk to the assessor before and kept him from raising the assessment on my house by way of the facts and proof I brought down. Does that make me a scumbag?

Of course the restaurant will be a success. With the Harrah's connection, there will be a ton of customers in there every day eating and drinking while paying the bill with their CET Total Rewards points. They are not going to care if the Po-Boy is $14 since Harrah's is picking up the tab. I usually eat at least one meal at Gordon Birsch courtesy of Harrah's on every trip to Harrah's. Now, I will be letting Harrah's buy me a meal at Manning's instead.

People the city over deal with the assessor on a regular basis to have adjustments made to their property tax bills. It is how the system works. It is no different than taking advantage of credits and deductions on your income taxes.

But our hatred for Manning, over what seems to be a few thousand dollars a year, seems like he's been eating babies and bathing in the blood of virgins. I think there are some deeper issues here for you and I'd really recommend getting those worked out.

Why bring Jindal into this?...

There is no better way for a local millionare to contribute to his city than to pay his full amount of due taxes. Not saying his original assessment was accurate.

As for other players, Pat Swilling has stuck around and has done his fair share in NOE.
