New Orleans is the only vacant HC spot left

Agree with those that are just fine with the way things have played out so far. I didn't really want Glenn anyway because I'm in favor of an offense guy (unless it was Vrabel, who was a lock to the Pats). The only other guy I wanted was Ben Johnson, who was not coming to Nola.

This is a positive - since we're the only one left, our guy can't use us as "leverage" to angle for another job (or just more money). Might as well take our time and wait for everything to play out with the remaining games. No reason to rush.

This whole coaching search has felt a little like Mickey Loomis didn't get his way with the handling of DA and has been sulking and pouting throughout. Now that his tantrum is losing steam, he's going to have to give in and hire someone, even with his folded arms and red face.
That assumed attitude of Mickey Loomis, if true, I would think he’d pivot to Rizzi. Kinda like, ok you win on DA, but I’m right about the rest of the staff. However, I think the situation is much more dire for Mickey, and I think he gets it, he’s never seen this level of hate mail in the past. So, I’d expect him, to bail out of the limelight, and pass the reigns to Mike McCarty.

I have no issues with the timetable. They planned to interview the younger assistants. Some will free up in 28 hours but not all of them. This could go on through right after the Super Bowl. Depends who's on the short list.

Loomis has 3 or 4 colleagues with GM experience helping him, so he's got the bases covered to do a search hearing from many prospects. They'll hear alot of plans and that's actually a good byproduct thing in the search, with the Saints' problems fairly complex, and needing multiple seasons to stop the bleeding and then potentially fix.

Had Loomis already hired McCarthy, to me that would've seemed like a lazy hire. They know what they can have in McCarthy, which is a baseline. They owe it to themselves to look at the OC head coach prospects because we've seen that profile succeed in the current game. That profile is younger and closer to the modern college game, which absolutely influences the NFL more now, making pocket statues like Carr more easily defended.

When you consider that Mick is the only one in that group who hit the jackpot with Sean, I'm not impressed. These are some valid points. However, the only way it makes sense is not expecting Mike to be available or the storm really messed up your face-to-face schedule (very possible). You should have had a list at the end of the season because Allen was given the axe mid-season. Brady couldn't be interviewed because they didn't get a bye.
I mentioned how I've changed my view in favor of Mike after talking to a couple of Cowgirl fans I know and considering neither Brady nor Moore look like natural leaders of men. I get your lazy comment because I was saying the same thing last week. I don't know anything about Weaver or Kafka but I do question Moore and Brady because Allen, Dak, and Hurts were who they were before either OC got there. We are in a difficult situation between the cap and QB issue. Mike is the only guy I can justify being patient with because of his track record. I would prefer a young up-and-comer like Sean, but that doesn't seem pragmatic for a guy near retirement. He could hire Mike and walk away.

As far as I know, DA got fired but no one else did.
Am I correct?

Anyway, we have a staff for the next head coach to choose from.
It’s a start.

Typically the head coach picks his own staff. The only way I see this staff staying is if we hire Rizzi.

None of the assistants were let go other than Grantham who was "allowed" to take another job. I think it was pretty clear that Rizzi thought he was doing a bad job and promoted Young over him which lead to Grantham taking another job. But Loomis did say they are all allowed to interview for other jobs and we know that Kubiak has done so.

But, it probably does make sense to keep the guys around that we can to see if the next HC or coordinators want to work with those guys. Despite the results and as much as I want a total reset, we do have some good coaches on the staff such as Hodges, Young, Dennison, Benton, Galliano, and the WR coach we got from the Ravens. They just had a terrible leader in DA. Rizzi is also obviously a good special teams coach, but I think the only chance he stays is if he gets the HC job or if McCarthy is hired. McCarthy given his experience might not feel threatened by having the former interim HC on the staff the way a young coach might.

Senior bowl week is a big assistant coach interviewing week since they're all in Mobile. That's when I expect to start losing people.

I have a disgusting feeling its going to be Rizzi. Mostly because of how Loomis has spoken so much about continuation. And in his presser, I didn't even remotely get the impression that he believes we need a soft rebuild. Which makes me believe he's going to press on with the continuation.

And just for clarity. His game time adjustments were awful, and so was his game management as interim head-coach. He may have been good in organizing the team every week leading up to the games and replacing bad coaches. But during game time he was nothing more then a cheer leader fumbling clock management.
Kamara seems to want him to stay, if that is our choice I'd like to keep Kubiak, would like to see him with healthy roster...if it ever happens.

It's all moot, in the week leading up to SB in NO, Tomlin finally has a falling out with the Steelers & demands his release, NO offers stupid money and Tomlin comes to the Big Easy (perfecr fit HC & city), MT is promised a retool period & has TH7, Haener, & Rattler to work with this year (DC to NYG for picks next year), Tomlin is promised we will move up and get Arch in 2026 because he wants to play for his grandpa's team, stay close to home, & have his grandpa there for all home games, so Tomlin will finally get a quality QB he has been wanting Pitt to draft for yrs...

Everyone's happy, Tomlin is king of the town, and ppl start calling Arch "Big A" & they revamp the culture with a few SBs & create another dynasty, here... in the Big Easy!

If you're gonna dream, go big!
🤣

That is my dream scenario, Who Dat!

We're only last because of the delay with the snow event. I think our hire should be announced soon to be honest.
That's just an excuse, I don't see how that can stop a team from hiring a coach or a coach accepting an offer

Well... it has something to do with the Rooney rule which had to be completed before you can offer someone a contract. Those guys were initially scheduled during the time that that snow event happened, so you can't just skip that process. They just finished today.
