New Orleans is the only vacant HC spot left (72 Viewers)

Man I really hope we get out of this darkness soon. The doom and gloom hypotheticals people convince themselves of are starting to become tiresome around here.

Mickey just wants to win. That’s it. Nothing else.
Hopefully he starts managing the team that way.

The problem with waiting now is losing out on assistants. I don’t know if it would’ve made a difference or not but one of the guys I was thinking about as a possible DC under McCarthy is Al Harris. A lot of people in Dallas think he’s going to be a very good DC when he gets his shot. But he’s off to Chicago as defensive passing game coordinator. Hopefully our new coach is able to put together a good staff with what is left over.

If the Saints want Harris as DC that would be a promotion over his position with the Bears. He's still a DC option for the Saints if they want to go that route.

When you consider we've known we needed a new coach since mid-season, the lack of a clear organizational direction is apparent.

Not sure why people have to bathe in negativity. We did a poll on the site with about 90% of our top choices still available, including the clear favorites Brady and McCarthy.

Most of these coaches hired weren't even considerations for fans or the team. So I'm happy to see a lot of these other hires. They can make a choice without the pressure from other teams now. Besides we still need to complete the Rooney rule and they may want to interview the playoff teams before they decide.

Nah, he looks past the results. I've heard him say so two years in a row.

Hypothetically, you've just been hired as the new coach of a team. That team finished the previous season with 3-14 record. What do you do to turn things around and win more games?

Potential HC candidates:

Dark Horse Candidates

1. Anthony Weaver - from what I have seen no other team has shown any interest. If where going to hire an unproven coordinator I would prefer an offensive minded one, not sure how viable a candidate he really is.

2. Mike Kafka - the Bears did an interview but not getting much more interest. I don't think the Saints will go with him, but I would prefer them to take a shot on a younger OC then a retread or defensive minded coach.

Still in the Playoffs

3. Joe Brady - Feels like the candidate a lot of people are excited about. At this point Brady is my pick, but I am don't know if the Saints are going to go the young OC route. Even though the chances of it working out are low, just feels like Brady would be a breath of fresh air.

4. Kellen Moore - Pretty much same boat as Brady, while Brady is my first pick I would be fine with Moore.

5. Kliff Kingsbury - Not sure that Kliff is a real option, kind of feels like he might stay in Washington a few year with JD around. Not sure he is HC material anyways. Kind of hope we pass on him.

Favorites

6. Mike McCarthy - I do feel like he is the leader in the dog house now. Tons of experience, winning record and ties with the FO. Also seems like many fans are excited about him as well. I think we could do worse so I will not be upset if we go with MM.

7. Darren Rizzi - my least favorite option and its not really Rizzi's fault. I just want a fresh start and I don't feel like going with Rizzi is the right choice. Feel way to much like the last 3 year for me. I do think he is way more likely an option then it might seem like.

We are in a really good spot right now. We are the only team with a HC vacancy and any coach who wants to be a HC next year has only one chance. It's like being the only guy invited to a dance at an all girl's school.

The only negative that I can see is that there may be valuable assistant coaches that get hired by other teams while we are dancing with all the girls, so to speak.

If Loomis botches this and settles, when he has a virtual monopoly, my head will explode 🤯. I think that the answer is to go with a high energy, younger HC that is an offensive specialist. So Brady or Kingsbury would be my choice, I suppose. I am intrigued with Kafka, but I don’t know enough about him.
