Do you care about New Years Eve?

Obviously the last couple years have been very difficult but I mean in general before that

Do you stay up to watch all the performances/fireworks/ball drop on TV?

Did you attend any?

Go anywhere dressed in your finest? Stay out of town?

Just a midnight toast with your sweetheart?

Or, fast asleep well before midnight and couldn’t care less?

I don’t remember when I was first allowed to stay up until midnight (probably somewhere around 10 or so) and it seemed very exciting at the time but wore off quickly

Long stretch of not caring

Went out once or twice during college

Long stretch of not caring

Girlfriend made a big deal out of. Never went anywhere but we were always up made a nice appetizer spread and drinks

Last few years we’re both in the not care camp. If we’re up we just happen to be up

The best time I've ever had on New Year's Eve was in Singapore, did that twice. Other than that it's not been very special to me.

Nothing but a paid day off from work to me. I think the last time I stayed uo was 10-11 yrs ago.

It's just a regular Friday night to me. I'll more than likely end up asleep well before midnight.

I haven’t cared about NYE since college and even then it was just an excuse drink more than usual. Every year since, I’ve stayed home with no regrets

Mine was Palma Spain in the 86-87 new years. I was stationed on the JFK.
'85 and '86 onboard the LaSalle (AGF-3).
Edit: Wait a minute, that's not right. It was 89 and 90 onboard the Antietam. lol THAT'S how much fun it was!

before Katrina and then first, maybe, 2 years after; the bonfire on Orleans Ave was awesome
neighbors start hauling their trees et al out of the house around 11:45, stacked them up and lit them after the countdown
right after Katrina it leaned a bit into a bacchanal with people just needing to let loose
then karens started to karen

spent 99/00 NYE on a rooftop in NYC and it was interesting for not being interesting - being 13% sure planes were going to fall out of the sky as the city descending into blackness - just hard to know how to react to that - "yay, i guess"

I don't know how I feel. Well, I guess I do. I hate it. Except I like fireworks (and luckily my dog is not bothered by them). But it just feels like you're expected to be happy, hopeful, and hearty about turning a new year and.I.don't.
