Announcement NFL Black Monday Thread (2 Viewers)

I don't comprehend, based on the data i just provided. Now if Rizzi just isn't your preference, well just say that. But disgusing it under "he doesnt represent change" when there is data that supports he came in and changed things is hard to swallow. Another example was the lockers being moved around. Those things hand't been changed since SP did so during covid. Meaning Allen left things as is almost 3 years later, meanwhile Rizzi comes in and makes that change 1st week on the job.

I'm just saying the whole he doesn't represent change thing isn't holding up under scrutiny. However, what is becoming noticeable is that Rizzi isn't HC material in a lot of eyes. Gives me the Trump feeling. People have a certain way a "president" should act and when someone doesn't fit that box they become less desireable. May not be the case here, but it seems like that.
Change means changing the staff not just the head coach. We went through this before already with DA. When people say they want change, they want to clean out most if not all of the coaching staff and do something new.

Yep. Posted in another thread yesterday….he’s said he will be playing somewhere next season even if it isn’t here.
Yea Cam isn't ready to hang them up. For us as a team sadly it is time to move on "only" because of our cap situation. I would like to see Davis stay for another couple of years, he still has some miles left and can be a good mentor to a new player coming in. I love Cam and it would kill me to see him playing for another team but it's time to cut bait with everyone we can this offseason.

An interview is no big deal; that's just a courtesy. However, we need change, and he does not represent change on any level.
That's my only issue is that he wouldn't represent the type of change we need. It would be a band aid situation and that's another thing we don't need is to try and hang on forever. Rip the bandages off let it bleed and then start fresh, this is a huge decision, so it has to be a move for the future.

I certainly get that POV but I’d like Cam to retire here (after next season) having only played here.

Won’t blame him one bit if he takes the Rickey Jackson route tho.

4/4 of the dome patrol went on to play for other franchises: Jackson - S.F., Swilling - Raiders, Mills - Panthers, Vaughan Johnson did a very brief stint w Philly. It’s just part of the bidness.

I would love for Cam to retire here too as he is an amazing player and was the lone Ranger (as Will Smith was before him) on that d line for many seasons. I would say if he did leave it would be for a team like the Lions where Campbell is there, and they have a window that is open for a few more years. Cam could be a complimentary piece in Detroit but yes, I agree, my fan side says keep him until he does leave, and I would guess there would be long discussions between Cam and the new HC and management to do everything they can to keep him here. I don't even know how his contract is written so all that comes into play.

Edit. I got that totally wrong. Vaughn started w the Eagles before joining the Saints. My mistake.

Yeah, it is and that's our problem we haven't been treating it like a business and that's fine, but we need to inject some of that thought and make sure we never get here again.

Great point about the Dome Patrol as I hadn't realized that. I remember Mills and Jackson the most and that's because those two hurt the most.

The only player to leave that really bummed me out truly was Drew just because he was amazing to watch every week, and he went out in such an unpleasant way I always wanted him to truly get his redemption for those Rams and 49er playoff games before he retired. Other than Drew and Colston (to a lesser degree) no other player leaving has really bothered me much, whether it was by being traded or signing somewhere else in free agency.

Oh no worries! Actually, it is good you posted the correct info. I thought Johnson came over from the USFL but that was Coach Mora and Sam Mills. I actually looked and Johnson played for the Jacksonville Bulls in the USFL. Now his Wiki page says he was drafted 15th overall by the Saints in the 1984 supplemental draft of the USFL and Canadian League. That folded and Johnson came to play for the Saints in 86 and spent 8 years with them. He then went on to play for the Eagles in 1994 only playing in 5 games. You got it right he started with us and left for a short stint with the Eagles.

Huh? So I was wrong about being wrong? I think I need a nap…

So, I won't mention that Swilling played with Detroit as well.. : - )

From Wiki:
Eventually, y'all got it right :giggle:

Swilling was traded to Detroit to move up to their draft position in the first round to pick Willie Roaf. Else, coming off a 12-4 season in '92, the Saints wouldn't have been picking anywhere near high enough to pick the future Hall of Famer.

The one time "trading up" was a brilliant idea, ha.
