N/S North Carolina is finalizing a deal for Bill Belichick to be next Tarheels head coach [Belichick agrees to 5 year deal with UNC] (2 Viewers)

You don't need a Brady to win a NC in CFB.
Na, but need talent and with the Miami resurgence it may be a little difficult. However, don't think the expectations are as high as it's with SEC schools.

I haven’t studied the finances yet, but with college basketball losing its cultural relevance; I think this is part of North Carolina’s master plan to turn into a legit football school.
Especially since the playoff is 12 teams now; you’re gonna see more schools make their first appearance(s) and legit runs.
You’re also gonna see a few new programs win natty(s).

Could be. That's a school with a lot of money and rich alumni that has never really put much of that money toward football. This seems likely to be their plan to become a "football school" in the era of NIL and the 12 team playoff. As you said, lots of schools will have a shot that did not before. Although NIL with make the pool relatively small.

Oh, I agree with that. ACC isn't really close to the SEC from top to bottom, but ACC schools have competed for NCs before, so it's not out of the realm of possible.

Fwiw, I'm not expecting them to win a NC with BB, but playoffs, quite possibly.

The thing about NIL, I think it’s gonna open it up to non traditional schools.
My problem with the BCS is that if you weren’t a traditional power or deemed not worthy because of TV ratings (Utah and Boise St come to mind), you weren’t gonna get to the natty even if you went undefeated.

A 12 team playoff AND NIL is gonna turn a few basketball schools into football schools.
And more schools in metro populations.

Hope UH could be one of the schools that learn to use NIL to its benefit. There are many a famous (rich) alumni

Weak ACC. Players hoping to play in the NFL will want to play for him. I'm sure he will have a team to recruit and handle the portal. I think he will do well. I can see them in the top 12 next year as the conference champ.
I watch a lot of Carolina games. They're pretty good offensively, I loved Hampton, they have some good WRs from Jones to McCollum. Their problem has been defense, they've blown a lot of leads even during Howell and Maye's days.

Recruiting should be fun now!

You can be sure Coach will whip that defense in shape in a hurry. Pats defenses were always competitive no matter who they plugged in. They were often overlooked because Brady, but those defenses kept them in a lot of games over the years.

All the talking heads on radio and tv were saying "No way Bill will be able to deal with NIL and the transfer portal" and all that jazz. But schools are now starting to create "GM" positions who deal with that, leaving coaches to handle the Xs and Os, motivation, practices, game plans, etc. I think Bill is going to thrive. Rooting for him.
