NFL Draft Number of NFL Draft early entrants continues to decline in the NIL era (37 Viewers)

This is a good thing. Too many young players were declaring. Now the true upperclassmen, who has played 4-5 years, will be/is the majority of the draft enrollees. It’s better for the NFL this way.

This is a great thing for most positions, especially QB, OL, DL, TE and LB. I saw somewhere where teams have no clue about LBs transitioning from college to the NFL because they don't know if the guys can do everything they are asked to do in the NFL since most if not all of the college D schemes aren't as demanding as the NFL defensive schemes/responsibilities.

A guy like Kiser who has been in college for 6 years, the NFL teams have a better idea about what they'll get from him.

If anyone knows a quick way (or has time to kill), I'd love to see some research comparing players who stayed the full time time in college versus those who came out early. Pro Bowls, All Pros, length of time in the NFL, guys in the HOF, things like that. I'm sure it would vary position to position, at least a bit, but would be interesting. High ceiling versus high floor, how it pans out overall. Curious!

Agree. No need to rush now you can stock pile money right now in college and maximize your potential and improve your game.

I think this ultimately benefits both the college game and the NFL. Keeping some of these players a year longer in college makes the college game better, as you have a larger group of experienced players competing at that level. Likewise, they also get more experience and are a little less raw when they get to the NFL. So the pool of newcomers xompeting for NFL rosters are also a little better.

I’m not a fan of the current NIL/portal setup. I think it needs some changes so that it’s not a complete free-for-all, highest bidder market that it has become these past few years. But I do think NIL itself is good for both college and pro sports.

Gonna be even more interesting if NCAA moves to allowing juco players to still get 4 years of D1 eligibility, could have some 24 year old draftees with 6 years of starting college ball under their belt.

First off , they need to get a handle on this NIL. And the transferring every year is crazy. But like Carson Beck, 4 mil to play at Miami. Was probably going in the 4th round. Gets to make more money, probably have a good year and probably go higher in next year's draft. Win for him.

yeah, they're going to have to put a cap on NIL spending, or the parity in the college game will continue to get worse and worse.
