Does it not bother anyone else that Obama's minister, and friend, Jeremiah Wright, minister of the United Church of Christ, is a supporter of Louis Farrakhan? Wright married Barak and his wife and baptised their daughters. Last month Wright presented Farrakhan with a lifetime achievement award named after himself. This really bothers me. Obama's minister openly opposes American Jews, Whites, Israel, and homosexuals. Any man running for the US presidency who supports someone who stands for such racist and political views must be closely watched.
Obama seems like a typical politcal hypocrite. He sends out a letter to the homosexual community, but supports a minister who opposes them.

Of course to liberal news media has made little mention of this.

I'm not sure if it's hypocrisy. I'm not religious, but if I were I don't think I would have to agree with all of my clergyman's social beliefs. This does open up a line of questions though.

Obama has denounced AND rejected Farrakhan.

His minister isn't running for President.

His other views and lack of political clout and experience bothers me more. When you get beyond his say nothing speech making, there doesn't seem to be much there.

If all people have to throw at him is Farrakhan, plagiarism and an experience level equal to the current president's, while not being able to deny his ability to reach to and connect with people, as well as what looks like a pretty sharp mind and a lack of 3,465,023 political chits to pay off from years in politics, it sounds like he's a pretty good candidate.

I think SBTB already touched on this. Obama did distance himself from the Farrakhan ilks a long time ago and although he probably does have some supporters who are radical and maybe somewhat prejudiced, that does not mean he in essence agrees or even likes these people on their racial and religious views. But the OP did bring up an interesting point that needs to be touched on. Some less educated people in the election process may see this as a bit unnerving and may be worried. I know If I was someone in the Obama camp I would be concerned too about Farrakhan into the camp. I mean people in the black community, some of them, have told me that they honestly hate and fear a guy like Farrakhan because of his past.
SBTB, can I ask you a question? I have heard rumors for a long time about Malcom X's death? Most of its hushed too, that stuff too if you know what I man. Some people have speculated or accused people in the Nation of Islam of having involvement in his death. I don't know if he did and am not accusing them of anything? What are these rumors I keep hearing Saint.

I do believe in guilt by (continued) association and that if you lie down with the dogs, you get the fleas.

That's not a knock on Obama personally, but it leads me to seriously question his judgment if his "minister" (and a so-called Christian) ascribes to Farrakhan and his views.

Farrakhan is to white people what David Duke is to black people. You can't have it both ways.

If my minister, head of my church, supported the KKK, or Nazi agendas, I would find another church. Barack continues to thank his friend and minister.

Yes, I'd be lying if I said this didn't bother me somewhat. I have no respect for Farrakhan. But it's something we each have to form an opinion about and for now, I will accept Obama's statements from the other night.

But I'll ask, BigRon, are you open to voting for Obama? Is your mind made up either way? Is this connection to Farrakhan what's keeping you from supporting him?

Yet many Catholic Preists have associated with known pedophiles and supported moving them from one congregation to another rather than turning them into the state for prosecution. So you're okay with childrapists?

I've got friends and family who hold racist, homophobic, and otherwise socially backwards views. I think most of us do. I love 'em, but they're no reflection of me. None of us are perfect.

It's definitely a tough line to walk. Obama is very much a candidate of great personal nuance. We'll see if that does him in in the general.
