Odds to pick #1: Saints moved from 200 to 1 odds to 26 to 1; Vegas has Saints as 3rd most likely team to select at #1 (4 Viewers)

Would you want Cam Ward at #1?

Not this year at least! The team needs an influx of youth and talent and giving up what it would take does not make any sense, Now next year with a guy like Manning maybe...
Why do people insist that Manning is coming out early next year? His grandfather & both uncles played out their college years, many(including Brees) told him he should play the full 5 years of eligibility. He'd be a MUCH better, more polished QB & w/the ridiculous NIL situation(if he changes his mind), he won't lose any $. 3 yrs of starting at a big school will stand him better than 1 yr!

I'd like to see us use some of our extra picks and/or next year's to jump back into round 2. Not specifically for a QB.

Our 2 3s and second 4 could get us back into the middle of round 2.

I wish a stat or a chart existed showing how many times drafting a franchise QB in the top ten picks actually works out. Even without the cost of moving up, it’s a crap shoot.
There have been 37 top 10 QB picks, from 1980 to present. Success rate of 43%.
That's not very good, is it?
1st round 11-32 had 30 QBs picked; exact same success rate of 43%.
So, out 67 QBs taken in the 1st round, less than half were considered successful.
Keep those picks in your pocket & let anybody else have ANY of the "top" QBs this year!

It's not in the Saints' DNA to find a player that they really like at a position of need and then move up to get him?
Right? That confused me too lol.

Manning won’t be coming out next year. I get your point tho.
No but if we look for lessons from the past we will probably trade up 2 first rounders to take Shemar Stewart 🙄
Spot on. This team definitely has it in their DNA to aggressively move up.

If Kellen Moore sees a champion when see evaluates Ward, bring the guy to play for his childhood dream team. Immediately yes. Pay a little extra if that’s what it takes. To me this is like having the opportunity to draft Burrow. The only thing I would want but know would never happen, is for him to wear the 9 jersey so he could be 9th Ward.
I'm not a fan of drafting a QB this year, but that is still a great post.

If you pick 13-18 in '26, you're boned at getting your QB. Thats probably where the Saints will draft if they stay at 9 and Carr stays mostly healthy with most of your key players.

Just to clarify, what I meant by that it’s not in the Saints DNA to move up in the draft I meant specifically for a QB.
I didn’t say DE which we all know they are notorious for doing…..moving up.
I hope they don’t do that again.

It's not gonna happen. Even if the Saints make an offer the Titans can't refuse and decide to take the compensation over Ward, the Titans will call the Browns, telling them the offer and giving the Browns a chance to beat it.

Not only do they have to, they have way more ammo then the Saints. Don't get your hopes up.

The 2nd overall pick in this draft and a 1st next year (that will likely be top 10) easily beats out #9 in this draft, a first next year (that will likely be mid round) and another 3 or so draft picks this year.

Browns are locked in on Abdul Carter

Just saw a mock draft were we traded up to #4 for Travis Hunter.... didn't see the details of the trade but how would you whodats feel about this?
Looks like there saying the #9 pick and #40 along with 2026 2nd rd and 2027 2nd rd picks...

The Pepto Bismal song immediately came to mind

Titans are hoping we're as desperate to get Ward as they are to trade back. It's in our DNA to target a player and go get him. The # of spots usually doesn't matter more than it's someone we have a conviction about.
The number of spots hasn't been a deterrent for the Saints, but the cost of the trade has been. The cost of trading up from 9 to 1 looks like it's going to cost them more than any trade they've made before under Loomis.

That doesn't mean they won't make a trade.
