Official Game Day Thread: Commanders @ Saints 12/15/24 (14 Viewers)

You want to give it to the guy who thought it wise to start what we saw in the first half over what we saw in the second half? No thanks. Unfortunately the second half will do just that though. If it’s totally up to Loomis it’s already a done deal
He made the change, most knuckle heads wouldn’t have.

If he didn't get tackled for a loss on that last run, I think they might have. Commanders are stour in the middle so running at the goal line would have been risky. I don't have a problem with the last play. JJ has to be able to make those catches. I mean, the great ones like Kittle and Kelce will make that catch more often than not.

You need JJ to make that catch but it would have been a great catch if he made it. Very few TEs can make that catch.

Personally, I would have liked to see them spread the Commanders out and either run a draw to Miller or QB draw. The other option I like there is zone read.

How about run the ball. I would had rattler on a keeper
Commanders have been stout up front most of the game. I don't see running working unless it's some sort of misdirection play. I get why some wanted to run there, but we had several runs resulting in tfl. It's a lot harder to run in that spot imo.

The ball was high and outside. Tough throw to make and it wasn't ideal, making it an even tougher catch. Just not ideal all the way around.

Spread them out for sure, not sure about the draw play but definitely would’ve preferred a spread formation.

Not really upset, but looked like Austin, I think it was, was open in back of end zone.
He was, but there was a lot of traffic in front of him. That would have been a very difficult pass. Also possibly Rattler didn't simply didn't see him.

The ball was a bit high and outside. And it was a tough catch with a very small window to hit. It's part of why I'm not a big fan of the call along with the fact that it's exactly the call I expected them to make so I'm sure Washington knew as well.

Not the call a HC should make. But I'm not mad about it in this situation. If you get it, Rattler gets a huge boost of confidence and if you miss it, you maybe get a better draft pick and it does nothing to hurt Rattler's confidence.

But, sure, under normal circumstances it's not the call you make when you are the home team.
I just think the momentum was good there and they had to like their chances. I would have done the same thing.

I just feel like you're at home with the defense playing well and the offense feeling it. At that point, I like my chances in OT rather than risking it all on one quick play. If we had a Michael Thomas, Colston, Jimmy Graham, and/or Brees, I might have felt different. But, we don't really have a go to guy that close to the end zone. I like our chances better in OT.

But, in the end a really close loss with Rattler leading the team may be the best result for this team for the long term.

I just think that a running play is the last thing Washington was expecting there and a roll out to the right with guys running drag routes is exactly what they expected.

Which is why I would have liked either to spread them out and run a draw with Miller or Rattler or a Zone Read where you walk into the endzone if they crash in for the run up the middle.
