Official LSU vs. OU Thread (a.k.a. Boomers lose to Tigers again!) (4 Viewers)

Surprised you are taking OSU over Clemson. I predict an all Tigers championship game.
I'm hoping for an LSU-OSU final simply b/c I think OSU would be the easier opponent. I don't see them being able to beat Clemson. The only question mark about Clemson is have they had it too easy this season and not really had to battle yet? I think Alabama's comparatively easy schedule up to the point that they played LSU was a factor in our being able to control the game. We were more battled hardened, and it showed as the game went on.

I honestly don't think the game will be close facing either of them...

not if our defense continues to play like it did the last couple games

was it my imagination or was LSU a lot less vanilla with their pass rush against A&M and Georgia?

My only concern is the 20 day lay-off which may affect the offense early on. I do think our defense controls their offense more than people think.

OU buddy of mine tried to use this to make an argument of how good OU was this season....
I just told him Georgia fans did the same thing how that turn out for them....

My opinion on the outcome of the First Round Playoffs

LSU 47 OU 24
OSU 27 Clemson 45

I know most of us including Burrow would love to see OSU vs LSU for the Championship but I think Clemson is way better than we know since there schedule was wack and OSU will get snake bitten by it...

A friend told me he was confident OU will win the Peach Bowl. My response was a little too easy:

The way they have struggled with terrible teams this year, I don't see how they feel they actually have a shot. These silly stats they keep throwing out and then assuming that the second half of the Ole Miss game is representative of the LSU defense as a whole. If LSU plays terrible, then maybe. I just don't see LSU playing terrible, though. These dudes have been dialed in the last month and now they're finally in a position to realize their goals. Baylor did a pretty good job on OU and I can't think of a single player on Baylor's defense that would see significant playing time, much less start on LSUs defense.

Plus, LSU has actually played Jalen Hurts pretty well. Where Jalen has beaten them is when the defense has played 70+ snaps by the 3rd quarter and they just wore down. Tackles become arm tackles. PAsses defenses become completions. Completions become big plays.

Now, if the defense is worn down by the 4th quarter, it's because the offense has scored 7 TDs.

Well there was atleast one guy I noticed on Baylor's Defense Lynch I think his name was DL the reason he caught my eye was his quickness while being blocked on the right side of the line while Hurts runs up the middle he was able to move quick enough to tackle Hurts for only like a 5 yard gain..... that may not seem like much but I know Hurts is not slow so was kinda surprised a DL guy was able to move that quick to tackle Hurts....

You beat me to it. Not often MLU misses one like that ?

Folks, this is the season I have waited for all my football-loving life. While it's true that the college football playoff system could be made better (imho), what we have now is by far the best thing we have had in the history of college football to settle the score about who really is the 'best of the best' among the major college football programs around the country. There is really nothing 'flukey' about any of the four teams who are vying for the title this year, and the eventual winner will have to prove to everyone that they are worthy and truly deserve the National Championship this year.

That said, I refuse to allow myself to believe that the Tigers have this title sewed up already. While I love LSU's chances to come out on top, I certainly need to remember that no matter how badly I want my team to prevail, anything can happen. And all but one thing would be a genuine heartbreak.

But if LSU can skillfully execute two more great game plans against two more of the top programs in the nation and come out victorious in both, it will simply be (for me) the best season that LSU has ever had or (likely) ever will have. This is it! I don't believe any future story will ever top what is unfolding before Tigers fans right now!

Never before has the LSU football program been part of so many records and postseason awards, both as a team and for individuals on & off the field. If the story of this year was written as a Hollywood script, it would be considered pure fiction. Though I will be proud of everything that we as fans have been treated to, no matter how it ends... there is no way that any other season could overtake the feelings & meaning of this football season if the Tigers are the last team standing and are hoisting the Dr Pepper Trophy in the Superdome on January 13, 2020!

Yes, this may become the season that will forever be known to LSU fans as being the undeniable 'As Good As It Gets' football experience of all time! And I won't mind for one second that I was around to experience it!

If LSU completes this run and wins the championship, I think it may go down of one of the best and most dominante college football teams and seasons ever.

Not that I'm a college football historian or anything, but it just feels that way.

It sure would get my vote! :9:
