Ohhh Hyundai...you are killin me. (5 Viewers)

Possibly the low sales are due to the CX50 they put out. I have a 2016 mazda 6
and they have discontinued those. We replaced an uncomfortable pickup last year and went to mazda first, we both loved the look of the 50 over the 5, but embarrassingly I am too short to see around the hood, even the salesman agreed. I don't think there is a difference in the engine. I wonder if they are going to faze out the 5. We went with a 24 honda crv, very comfortable but I liked the look of the 50 better.
After the Hyundai fiasco I talked my wife into a 22 crv. Pretty sure she hates me for it now 😂. They're such boring option less vehicles and I agree with her on that. I play hell finding it in a parking lot if there's more than 1 other crv there. Nothing about them is unique. The draw.....they run forever. They're boring forever but they run forever.

Speaking of cars.....we've been moving for what feels like forever. Months. I finally created enough room in the garage to get my baby in there. Drove it 2 hours to the new place which is the furthest I've driven it in 15 years or more. Forgot how fun it is and I should drive it more. Makes the hair on my neck stand up still 😂

I agree! But comfort over style for these geezers. We did get a red one though! 🤪

Agreed and for us (me at least) it was dependability over everything and you can't go wrong with Honda. Just wish they had more and/or better options. Also not a fan of where they put the shifter at on them. So intrusive where it is.

Update.

So Case Manager just called- acted like this was first time we spoke ( we spoke last Tuesday - he was "looking into Goodwill Claim) . Im like "Ummm Jinesh, we literally spoke last week and you were supposed to call me Wed "

He said "oh sorry i went on vacation " Anyway- nothing i can do since you already painted the car and paid for it. So at this time nothing more we can do for you.

So there you go. $1800 paint job

End of that saga.

I mean you could lawyer up but more expense and more hassle. I would imagine these days kia and Hyundai are on most lawyers speed dial.

I guess but as you said, the hassle and expense ( and my time ) outweighs the eventual outcome.

Especially if i lost, id have to change name to Creesy and go full "Man on Fire" mode.

So i did ask him to note the file ( as it does get sent up to Hyundai ) that i will be trading her car in here soon and will not be buying Hyundai ever again. ( and we will be trading in because she only has 1.5 yrs left of college and wants newer car )

Just frustrating that there seemingly was no real interest in finding an agreed upon solution. Its widely known issue, its their product and yet no remedy for this particular make/model year sandwiched in between 10s of other make/model yrs that DO have remedy for.

oh well.

And to add salt to the wound, i developed a hole in MY tire, cannot be patched, and my tires are at 90% life and staritng to crack ( Michelins - i have the "softer" tires and they tend to wear quicker ) sooooo now i am awaiting P-Zeros to come in tomorrow and that will be $1500~
And because i have AWD, the tire sizes are "staggered" - larger rear than front- and wouldnt you know, most tire MFG dont make same "model" tires in multiple sizes for tire shops- just dealers. So it was P-Zeros or bring to dealer. Nope.

sigh....

Michelin are normally solid tires. Myself I prefer toyos but that's just because I've had good experiences with them over the years. Toyos have almost priced me out of the game though. I'm on my 2nd set of truck tires trying to find something I like as much with no luck. Probably go back to toyo after these nitto wear out. Tried cooper last time and they were just too loud.

The guy said Michelin makes great tires- its just they do make a "softer" tire that will wear much faster, but give you a great ride.

They cant get the off-set- only sold to the dealers ( I had Michelin Pilots i think ) so i had to go with Pirelli - which i had great experience with on my Acura ( Cintauro ) - so im hoping not terribly loud. They said PZero is a very popular tire

Don't know if this would work, but if you even consider going Hyundai again, take that paint receipt and use that as a bargaining tool. Just do everything like you normally would. Once they agree on a price, then pull out the receipt and say, if you want to sell me this, reduce it by this about or no deal. Maybe it works, maybe not, but I think you'll get at least part, if not all of it back. 🤔

michelin pilot sport s (had these on my subaru and very sticky) and the crossclimate are great tires (will probably purchase when time to replace mine, or hell, just to add traction). neither will probably last more than a few years though, unless you drive about as infrequently as i do.

well unfortunately the ONLY place i can get the Michelins are at dealer.( due to off-set sizes front/rear from AWD ) Eff them.

and now that my office is only 10 min from home, my mileage has dropped significantly and i need my car lol

luckily there was a tire place within walking distance of my office this am. They put donut on, but its AWD and not keen on driving on it at all due to mini-size. ( dont want to mess up alignment etc even if just for a day )

tires are so competitive these days, there are a lot of great options.
