Since Marijuana is now off the NFL's list of banned substances I wonder if Onyemata's violation will be considered his first? If so, he's likely to get a 4-game suspension. If this violation counts as his second, will he get suspended for a year?

His absence for any period of time will be huge. And the reason is the free-agency losses of Rankins, Brown, and Hendrickson, as well as Janoris Jenkins. Individually, the loss of any of the departing defensive linemen could be overcome. In fact, keeping Jenkins and one of the two tackles would have been acceptable. But collectively, the loss of all four defensive players will impact greatly the 2021 team. And now it appears we will lose Onyemata for several games. More and more, 2021 looks like a transition year where a playoff spot looks questionable and the future is 2022.

So the Saints are short a starting outside corner after losing Jack Rabbit and Lattimore may get suspended for offseason arrest. Down to one proven LB on the roster. Lost Rankins/Brown in the middle of the DL and now add Onyemata for an extended amount of time.

If Jameis Winston does make the offense explosive again, then we may get 2014-2016 results with this team. Geez lol

New rule

if players can be suspended by taking over the counter the player /team can decide which games to be held out even if an injury coincides.

You hate to see this, especially being this close to the season. It's going to hurt not having him but we have the depth to make up for it.

My only gripe is how extensive the banned substance list is to warrant a suspension. Same thing happened to Mark Ingram a few years back and then Golden Tate got suspended while taking something to help him produce for a child. I'm all for doing things right but keeping your body right to play this sport takes a toll over the years and you need to support it somehow.

Just an overall bummer.

 :shame:

Jeez, one of the last issues the Saints needed...
Also his 2nd violation, no idea what that means with the CBA (and it's various amendments) but this could be as many as 8 games--though that is a worse case scenario...ugh
